Product Description

2007 FA Cup Final - Chelsea vs Manchester United. Relive every kick of this historic FA Cup Final as Wembley, once again, played host to the world's most prestigious domestic knockout competition. Billed as the clash of the 'Titans', the 2007 FA Cup final saw modern rivals Chelsea FC take on Manchester United to restore pride to their 2006/07 campaign and ensure a cup double. True to form, Chelsea refused to bow out easily and controlled large portions of the game, resulting in victory for the Blues through a late Extra Time strike from Didier Drogba. With the two sides evenly matched, the pivotal moment came as a result of a sheer moment of brilliance, as Drogba staved off a dreaded penalty shoot out. With the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo and Giggs all stifled by the skill of the Chelsea defence, the scene was set for the Blues to snatch victory and ensure that the London Club had the final say in the season!

1.0 out of 5 stars And to think I could have been watching paint dry, 21 May 2007
By Mr. S. Clarke (UK) - See all my reviews

I watched this years FA Cup final as a neutral. This was to be the first at the new Wembley Stadium. We were watching the two best teams in the country, with some of the biggest stars in the world. This was going to be a final to remember. What we got was the most boring game I can remember. It seemed to drag on. I sat there praying that somebody would score so we didn't have to put up with extra time. It went to extra time, and the boredom continued until Drogba finally put a watching nation out of it's collective misery! I cannot believe that even the most hardened Chelsea supporter could sit through that again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just watch the 2006 final again -Chelsea fans excluded of course., 26 May 2007

If anyone other than a Chelsea fan bothers to buy this DVD then my gob will be so smacked it might as well wear a silly hat and call itself Pete Doherty . Surely the only pleasure to be had watching this crushingly disappointing exhibition -if that's not an oxymoron- is the winning goal from Drogba ( hopelessly out of place quality wise in this bore-fest) and the vicarious pleasure to be had watching John Terry lift the cup. Other than that you'd be better off pretending to be a wheelie bin sensor for two hours.
Billed as the game everyone wanted and by everyone I presume they meant the neutrals , of which I am one by the way, the showpiece final at the new Wembley featuring the best two teams in the country had more hype than an episode of Eastenders and consequently was unlikely to live up to the billing .But who could have predicted the somnambulant piffle that unfurled before our eyes like two slugs mating. The first half played at not so much half pace as absolutely no pace was so dull that the Wembley grass began to die of boredom. By the way blaming the pitch is fair enough to a point but even a slow pitch cannot excuse the players wandering around with all the urgency of Jeremy Clarkson going to test drive a Lada .
The second half was better but that hardly constitutes high praise and as extra time loomed like a particularly unwelcome detention you wished for someone ,anyone to score and put us all out of our misery , those of us who hadn't fallen asleep that is. There was a brief bit of excitement and controversy when Giggs claimed the ball had crossed the line ( It had, but only because he had buffeted the prone Cech into the net) and I sort of wish the referee had given a definitive decision just to liven things up but he bottled it and gave nothing at all which sort of says it all about this final really.
So Mourinho won the cup , justifying his assertion that it is more important to win than entertain even though I am sure it's possible to do both or at least attempt it. Manchester Utd meanwhile blathered on about tiredness and Mourinho,s mind games instead of just saying it was a very poor game , we probably just deserved to win but didn't thanks to a rare moment of quality. Contrast the sour grapes here to Liverpool's graciousness in defeat in the Champions League final days later.
The DVD is livened up by a road to Wembley section which at least has some decent action and its this section rather then the game and some equally tedious post match exposition that anyone purchasing this DVD will return to gain and again. Mostly though I fear this DVD will be watched once with the finger poised over the fast forward button and then left to gather dust on a shelf . Chelsea may have won but it's a victory most of us will soon put out of our minds .
