How much would you pay to see Tito Ortiz get battered?, 9 Jun 2007
The feature bout between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz is one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history. UFC 66 also features the Octagon debut of British talent Michael Bisping. There are nine bouts in total. They are Christian Wellisch vs Anthony Perosh / Yushin Okami vs Rory Singer / Gabriel Gonzaga vs Carmelo Marrero / Thiago Alves vs Tony DeSouza / Michael Bisping vs Eric Schafer / Andrei Arlovski vs Marcio Cruz / Jason MacDonald vs Chris Leban / Forrest Griffin vs Keith Jardine and the feature bout.
The Gonzaga vs Marrero bout will be remembered for a dominant display of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Gonzaga. Bispings display against Schafer is not exactly dominant but he does show considerable skill. The bout between Arlovski and Cruz involves alot of grappling and is decided by an unexpected punch. Thankfully Arlovski didn't bite his opponent. The Jardine vs Griffin bout will be remembered for some devastating punches by the "Dean Of Mean".
Tito Ortiz has continued to cultivate a controversial image with displays of petulance and total disrespect for his opponents. Liddell is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC and probably the sports first superstar. Liddell considers this rematch as "just another chance to shut him up". The fight itself does not disappoint and those who payed to see it live got their money's-worth. The fight is stopped well into the third round.
The bonus features include Liddell/Ortiz and Griffin/Jardine behind the scenes footage. True UFC fans probably already own this DVD. It is highly recommended and at 2hrs 47mins of action it is one of the better recent releases.
