4.0 out of 5 stars It does work with Vista!, 27 May 2008
By D. Woods "HantsAstro.org" (Clanfield, UK) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I run an Online Astronomy Group HantsAstro.org. This product, once updated works fine with Vista Premium. Visually it's not as pretty as Starry Night, but for the price offers telescope control with updated ASCOM drivers and runs an LXD75 telescope fine in our tests. The star catalogs are accurate and the interface, once learnt is quite useful, if a little clunky compared to Starry Night. As planetarium software goes, with introduction presentations to the night sky it does quite well. The 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' intro turns from amusing to a bit tacky after the third time you load it, but thankfully this can be turned off. Being able to generate your own reports for a nights oberving is a useful feature. If you want telescope control, this is a good deal but if you want eye candy too and don't mind paying (much) more, then Starry Night is the way to go...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for telescope control, 24 May 2009
By Mr. C. D. Edwards "Stargazer" (London, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I bought this specifically to control my Meade ETX 70 AT, having been disappointed with the Meade supplied program.
Redshift worked easily with the Meade telescope, and allows the program to control the movement of the telecope or the telescope to move the cursor on the screen.
The ability to control what sky features are displayed at one time is a real benefit - other programs become too cluttered with satelites, moons, asteroids etc. all showing at the same time. Redshift allows you to show exactly what you want to see at any one time. The spacecraft download allows you to track all the latest spacecraft using the latest data available, so you can track, for example, the Hubble telescope.
There are lots of extras with Redshift, such as video introductions. It also comes with a comprehensive guide book.
This product does exactly what it says it will do. It is ideal for both beginner and experienced stargazer, who can both select the exact features that they need. As a telescope controller, it is the easiest program I have tried by far. Thoroughly recommended.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Redshift 6 is a star!, 28 Mar 2009
By J. Moodie "Jock in Spain" (Estepona, Spain) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I have been using Redshift for some time, and upgraded to Ver.6 Premium recently. This is a really comprehensive, easy to use planetarium program, ideal for relative beginners to more experienced astronomers. The 'auto update' each time the program is opened ensures that the latest data is always available.

I particularly like the hard copy printout, which is easy to read during live astro sessions, and can be tailored to the capabilities of your particular telescope or binoculars.

For a relatively small investment, this program will ensure you make the most of your expensive equipment.
