McGuiness Flint were founded by a couple of Apple songwriters and an ex Manfred but here they are now known under an extended name to add Tynesider musician Dennis Coulson who was a Decca recording artist and had once recorded for Apple Publishing-which was not known of till recently).
Dylan once said his favorite interpreters of his songs was Manfred Mann who had charted previously with If you gotta go go now -never issued by Dylan at the time-and The Mighty Quinn.
So the Manfred office was sent demos of what became known as the Basement Tapes songs
This was before the official release of the Basement Tapes and as such is a little known backwater of Dylan covers
