In your house was a pay per view that started off as a two hour pay per view that filled the gaps between what at this era was four pay per views per year,in your house 5 and 6 were aired in december 1995 and febuary 1996 respectively.
I will review each event individually,in your house 5 was an event that had a good level of interest as we had a world title match between the champ bret the hitman and his brother in law,british bulldog,these two had two matches prior to this,least of all at summerslam 1992 and the bulldog won them both.
The event opened with a tag team match between marty jannetty and razor ramon and sycho sid with the 1,2,3 kid.This was a good match,it flowed fairly well and contained some good moves and a good teamwork from two teams who did look on paper,both filled with pace and strength.
Buddy landel fought ahmed johnson next,it was meant to be dean (shane) douglas against ahmed but that went out the window when douglas said he was injured,the resulting match was a farce,a pure squash match which did nothing for either man,ahmed was established at this point so why,jerry lawler and jeff jarrett getting involved after saved the day somewhat but this isnt worth getting excited for.
A hog pen match featured next as henry godwinn and hunter hearst hemsley went one on one,hillbilly jim was guest ref by the way!The rule here was simple,there was a hogpen near the ramp and if you threw your oppenent in there then you would win.The match was a brawl but not that insane,vince mcmahon wanted a more wholesome family pay per view at this stage folks,it was a good match with the odd comical segment,worth checking out.
Owen hart fought diesel next in a match i was annoyed with,owen was far better than this match,in fact it was almost a squash match and that didnt sit right with me at all,not that good in truth.
As far as casket matches go,the one here featuring king mabel and the undertaker wont rank as a classic in any way,the taker had to work hard in this short match to give a level of credibility to king mabel who was well off the mark.The match featured some good stuff but not enough for my liking.
The WWF title and main event ended the event as bret and british bulldog went one on one,it was a fairly good match with both men enjoying moments of domination,and of course they both shared a good level of chemistry,it did however get too scrappy for its own good after a while and bret got torn to pieces and you could hear vince on commentary saying he wanted no close ups,a little clue of the power he did in fact have.The match ended well and all was good with the world again.
In your house 6 was very similar in quality,the event opened with tatanka going up against jake the snake,this wasnt a good match,jake wasnt in great shape at this stage and huffed and puffed his way through a fairly short match.
A crybaby match was up next,the stipulation being that if you beat your man that you would put him in a nappy and give him a bottle,yes,it is a stupid idea,razor ramon and 1,2,3 kid were the two men put in this match.This was a good enough contest but not their best,it had a strange pace at times but was worthwhile in the end.
Hunter hearst helmsley fought duke th dumpster next in a match that was better than i expected,duke gave a good account of himself while the class of hunter was there to be seen,it wasnt a masterclass in wrestling but did the business on the night.
yokozuna fought british bulldog in a poor match next,there was nothing and i mean nothing to report in the match bell to bell at all,the aftermath was better but this match was all down to yokozuna being too heavy and the bulldog finding it hard to work with this.
Shawn michaels went up against owen hart next,if hbk lost he would give up his wrestlemania 12 title shot here.This match was very good,two talented wrestlers giving their all and forcing a bit of a classic.I need say no more.
The WWF championship was up next in the main event,the champ bret hart fought diesel in a so so steel cage match,a very controlled match with little in the way of brutality,the cage barely came into play in truth,the match was messy in places as both men couldnt gel that freely.The match is more famous with the results leading to a winner,a real classic in time.
This double dvd is worth buying as its great value but it isnt the be all and end all in terms of quality,2 stars average.
