The most explosive film of the year.

Review

'Devastating' --The Washington Times

'Only rarely can a documentary be seen as a pivotal moment in a major political debate, but such is The Great Global Warming Swindle. Never before has there been such a devastatingly authoritative account of how the hysteria over global warming has parted company with reality. Martin Durkin's superbly professional film shows how the evidence is now overwhelmingly that the chief cause of climate change is not human activity, but changes in radiation from the sun.' --Christopher Booker, Sunday Telegraph

'The Global Warmers have had their day.' --Sunday Express

We owe Martin Durkin a debt of gratitude for producing this brilliant & brave documentary in 2007 - at the height of global warming hysteria - back when the 'science was settled' and anyone who dared to question the pronouncements of our green overlords was immediately characterised as no better than a holocaust denier - with many people driven out of their jobs and publically castigated for expressing the slightest scepticism.

I like many people had sat thru Al Gore's an inconvenient truth and had accepted most of what it said, albeit with a nagging feeling that it was perhaps slightly exaggerrated. At the time, like most people I basically accepted what I was being told - that scientists had identified a problem with man-made CO2 and that global warming was a serious threat and that 'action' was needed to 'tackle' it. At that time I hadn't paid much attention to the issue and had never heard the opposing view. Then I saw this excellent documentary - which lays out the case against alarm and questions the motives of those promoting and profiting from global warming hysteria. I have not looked back since and have learnt an important lesson to always question the line you're being fed by politicians. Verify the facts for yourself and ask cui-bono?

After 5 years of researching this matter I am now convinced that catastrophic man-made global warming theory and the associated industries of 'renewables', carbon trading and policy-based evidence making, constitute the largest scientific, political and economic fraud ever perpetrated on the people of the UK.

THANK YOU MARTIN DURKINS.

An awesome film that everyone must see, whether you regard it as controversial or not.
Why do so many people have such closed minds? They're either very stupid or they have something to gain from batting for the other side. This is too important a subject to be lightly dismissed as "settled" Our lives and our children's lives will be deeply affected by the monumental decisions we make with regard to this subject. It requires serious and considered international debate, not rash judgements and hasty actions.
Finally, if Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" was to be mandatory viewing for all school pupils, then so should this film be. Otherwise we do NOT live in a democracy, something I have certainly believed for many years.

The title says it all ... YOU are NOT personally responsible for Global Warming ( the evidence for which is still lacking after 17 years of overall cooling ! ) so GW has been renamed Climate Change ... a wriggle word if ever I saw one. Some Climate Nazis will accuse GW deniers of some sort of motive. I'm only after the truth. CLimate NAzis are the kind of people who write the thousands of e-mails to each other which were revealed recently to the public. Professionals who deny GW have been hounded out of office and had their funding reduced or cancelled. CO2 Trading is a leftist plot to redistribute western wealth to the poorer countries but this book will show clearly that when we do so using GW as the excuse ; the poor countries will get poorer and so will the west ; only a few will benefit .. THose who are pushing the GA / Climate Change argument. We've been swindled ; it's high time we knew enough to expose the lies and deception.

The well-presented evidence in the film 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' is that our climate is always changing, ( for instance, it was much warmer in the Middle Ages than it is now), and that Climate Change is for the most part a consequence of processes in the Sun which impact, via the 'solar wind', on cloud-formation. Climate is NOT driven by co2, man-made or otherwise.

The film also documents the interesting origins - (think Reagan and Thatcher) - of the 'theory' of anthropogenic climate change, and its potential (or agenda ?) to do great harm to development in the poorer regions of our planet.

We can probably all agree that pollution is not a particularly good thing, but on the other hand we need not, and should not, buy into the increasingly discredited idea that we're all going to drown under melting ice-caps or something if we continue to burn stuff.

I note the comments by Emc2 et al, but the context here is that Durkin would surely have produced a more balanced programme had we not at that time been bang in the middle of the great global warming scare. As it was, Durkin presumably felt that he had 90 minutes of documentary in which to counter the propaganda that polar bears were on the verge of extinction, sea levels were about to rise 20m and mosquitos were likely to invade the North Pole. Etc.

Dave G the "science guy": please note that the BBC did not produce this documentary and in fact mainly promote global warming.

Christopher Booker's very interesting new book "The Real Global Warming Disaster" [check it out!] states in Chapter 7:
"For years, the leading television networks, such as the BBC in Britain, had presented viewers with nothing but the 'consensus' view, reflected not just in numerous documentaries but routinely in supposedly impartial news programmes. [...]
Durkin's 90-minute documentary was as unashamedly one-sided in making its case as all those BBC documentaries had been in presenting the 'consensus' view."

And in the footnotes to this chapter of Booker:
"The origins of The Great Global Warming Swindle" lay in a meeting of the World Congress of Science Producers in Tokyo in 2006. Martin Durkin asked why the world's major television networks were paying so little attention to the serious doubts now being expressed by reputable scientists about the basis for the global warming 'consensus'. His point was scornfully rejected by Michael Mosley, a senior BBC science producer, arguing that no reputable scientists challenged the 'consensus'. It was suggested that Durkin and Mosley should debate the issue in front of their colleagues at a subsequent meeting of the congress in NY.
