5.0 out of 5 stars His new direction...., 1 May 2007
By S. Ardagh "ardagh" (UK) - See all my reviews

The reason that folk is rubbish is because it's generally written by normal people. Martin Grech is not a normal person. The rare folk covers that Martin Grech went to record would have been great, but creating his own masterpieces is so much better. These are two amazing tracks which show the biggest amount of promise ever shown by Martin.
The only thing that these tracks can be compared to that he's previously produced are the bonus tracks on his first two albums. These two songs are very bare but perfect on every level. Generally just him and his guitar but with some violin and other subtle touches later in the track. As it happens, I prefer the 'B-side', but the album to be released in June will be out of this world. I can't wait to see him on 9th May in London to perform his new tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Continuation of a Musical Genius...., 5 May 2007
By Mr. J. Gellatly "Jono" (Surrey, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Having followed the music of Martin Grech since the release of Open heart Zoo, I am never in more anticipation than when I hear he is releasing more of his beautiful music upon this world. Martin Grech stands out as someone who produces the most mesmerising, inspiring and genuine music straight from his soul. It is music that undeniably can speak to us and touch us all deeply. From 'Push' to 'Worthy', from 'Gratefully Punished' to 'I am Chromosome' Martins music breaks down the boundaries of what any music genre had known before. I have been privileged to see martin perform his music in what was the most powerful and beautiful musical experience I could ever have wished for. His very much-anticipated 3rd Album 'The March of the Lonely' promises even more from Martin and the first single "The Heritage" delivers. What Martin has produced here can not be labelled in any genre, it must, as I believe all his songs must, be taken for the beautiful piece of work it is. The Heritage explores questions and ideas we all have to face in all our life's, he drills deep into the emotions, confusions and soul searches which humanity faces and delivers such mature concepts I doubt the majority of ignorant people in this world could barely grasp "Everybody has to face their demons, your demons name is yours" illustrates my point. The b-side track on this single "Ashes over Embers" is another deeply moving and emotion stirring piece of genius, another gem to add to the Grech collection. It is music, like all Martin Grech music, which takes you out of the life you lead day in day out and transports your soul through darkness and light, sorrow and joy, hope and despair, loneliness and belonging, love and death.

1.0 out of 5 stars bring back the unholy martin grech, 28 April 2007
My all time favorite musician Martin Grech has decided to turn his back on his brilliant album "unholy" and write a folksy piece of rubish instead. How a man like martin capable of writing a song like "guiltless" and "open heart zoo" can reduce himself down to a song like the new single "heritage" is a mystery to me. Don't get me wrong I love the gentle tracks "Venus" was a fantastic song, I'm not some metal head that needs shouting and power guitar. I'm literally so mad I can't actually type what I want to say. this a fourth attempt as this now! . I'm posting this on his website too and I hope he knows that this is one fan he's lost for good or at least until he writes some proper songs again. He is a weak man that folded straight away to criticisms of "unholy" and did exactly what he was told when some morons told him that he'd "never get anywhere playing this aggressive stuff" he gained many fans such as myself with that release . I can only hope he hasn't completely gone for good and can only hope one day he'll use his huge well of ability and instrumental expertise to create some more masterpieces like "guiltless" and "worldly divine" and his beautiful voice to sing some more operatic/choir style vocal tracks rather than this bland folk that he's spewing now. "The march of the lonely" was my musical highlight of the year and now it's ruined. Thank you martin I hope that the album bombs hard.
