Amazon.co.uk Review
The further adventures of Los Angeles’ Counter Terrorism Unit’s finest initially sees Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer in a Chinese prison and not in good shape. But, this being 24, it’s not too long before the breakneck plot has revved into gear, and the wheels are turning again on a frantic real-time ride that’s thoroughly in the tradition of what’s become television’s finest thriller.

You won’t be finding plot spoilers here, because half the fun of 24 is not knowing what unexpected twist the scriptwriters have for you around the next corner. All that matters is that the world is under threat, and it’s up to Jack Bauer to lead the fightback. And it’s Kiefer Sutherland that’s the real asset to series six; whereas particularly in season five he took a sideways step to accommodate stronger supporting characters, here he’s shouldering a greater degree of the show’s narrative thrust.

You’d be hard pushed to declare that season six is vintage 24, but that’s more to do with the context of particularly the excellent run that preceded it. But few shows can match its audacious verve, and repeated ability to surprise and enthral. So while season six may have too many villains, and may ask you to bear with it through a few troughs, there’s still nothing out there to match it. Jump aboard… --Jon Foster

DVD Description
Season 6 of the Emmy® Nominated TV series picks up 20 months after last season's shocking season finale, when Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) was captured by Chinese government agents - battered, bloodied and headed for points unknown. Wayne Palmer (DB Woodside), the strong-minded brother of the late President David Palmer, is now the President of the United States, and is aided by his sister Sandra Palmer (Regina King), a powerful advocacy lawyer. After a series of horrific terrorist attacks, Palmer and his team of advisors, Karen Hayes (Jayne Atkinson) and Thomas Lennox (Peter MacNicol) - as well as CTU colleagues Chloe O'Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub), Curtis Manning (Roger Cross) and Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) - begin an unthinkable nail-biting day.

5.0 out of 5 stars i love 24!!, 14 Jan 2009
By M. Robinson "heavenscent" (heart of the earth) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

i really love all 24 episodes. before they said season 6 will be boring but its not..
Wayne Palmer makes it more exciting.. but its kinda confusing since one of the scene there, jack bauer's father, Philipp Bauer is also looking for Gridenko, then on the scene where supposed to be got a chance to kill Jack Bauer, he didnt do it and left Jack bauer in the roof top alone leaving him a cell phone with Charles' Logan's number. Jack then called Logan and find out that Logan would be a help in locating Gridenko. but Y did jack's father gave the number of Logan to jack? is it like he's helping jack to locate Gridenko where he is also finding Gridenko himself right?

hehehe..
but anyway.. I still love it.
Wayne Palmer is the best character in this season. Hope to see him on the next seasons

5.0 out of 5 stars Another high octane, high suspence installment of Jack Bauer at his best!, 17 Mar 2007
By Mr. B. Appleby (Cheltenham, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
More explosions, more shocks, and more of Jack Bauer doing what he does best. Fans of 24 and those new to the series will love day 6. Once again you will be on the edge of your seat throughout, suffering from sleep deprivation because you have GOT to watch the next epsiode to see what happens.

The bad press in the US regarding how the torture scenes in 24 are affecting troop morale in Iraq came out in the middle of this series, so day 6 has by no means been dumbed down from previous series, with a number of scenes that have you covering your face thinking "that's gotta hurt." Without giving too much away, there are a number of differences in this series compared to previous ones. We start the series with America in the aftermath of a sustained terror campaign, adding different dimensions to the series such as how frail and seemingly desperate the US is. Another major difference is that this series is much more personal to Jack, introducing us to more members of the Bauer family. The involvement of Jack's family as well as the experiences he endured for two years in China has also changed Jack slightly, as the memories of what has happened in his life coupled with what he has to endure in this series affect him more than ever.

Once again the major characters from previous series such as Bill and Chloe remain, and we are also introduced to some new key people, who will most likely play a prominent role in future series. As per usual there are a number of different plots surrounding the primary terrorist one, most importantly how the White House deals with the aftermath of the terror attacks, and the lengths they are prepared to go to in order to stop future ones.

Overall, one of the best 24 series so far, drawing on the best and most effective aspects of previous series, and adding new dimensions that keep this latest installment fresh, and not just a copy of previous series. A must for all fans of epic entertainment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the nerds... this is fantastic!!!, 18 Nov 2007
By PR Morgan (UK) - See all my reviews

Having been a little unsettled by some of the less than glowing reviews I had read by people who clearly take the whole thing a little too seriously (I'm pretty serious, but not that serious!), I found this series to be one of the best. People may find themselves tiring of the same old format... if so watch something else! Jack's character is building nicely, and the usual formula of presidential and personal drama is again well executed. I'd put this series down as one of the best... if you want more of the same, you won't be disappointed.
