Product Description

The french 'Bridget Jones Diary'. Camille, a neurotic Parisian in weekly therapy, is desperate to find the right man. She tries everything from sex parties to accosting men in the street. Even the unrelentingly romantic truck driver, ben is not enough. Her brother and lesbian friend both try to help her get a grip. All to no avail until she falls in love with Alexis, a Socialist Party activivst and promptly joins the aprty becoming an ardent activist. Can Camille make Alexis love her and get him away from his wife? Can she get her life back on the straight and narrow? La Nouvelle Eve is a wonderfully crafted, true to life and poignant story, perceptively directed by Catherine Corsini.

I saw that movie when it came out quite a while ago, loved it then, and loved it each time I saw it in video since. I was looking forward to it coming out in DVD. So I am delighted now that it is!
The main character is a quirky 30 something year old woman, a bit lost with herself, who falls in love with an unavailable married man. This movie is about her journey to grow out of that period of her life. It is smart and funny though also serious.

Hugely disappointed with this film. The French are usually excellent at these type of films charting the twisted relationships of their central characters, but this is self-indulgent tosh. The characters prompt no sympathetic or emotional response and the whole thing lacks substance. Avoid.
