Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
You'll surely be forgiven the faux pas of hearing hints of the Libertines in the twin-guitar, twin-vocal attack of Sweden's Mando Diao. They have the mannerisms, the loose raucousness, and the intense focus on melody that marks the combined work of Pete Doherty and Carl Barat--except Mando roughs it up without antagonism, under control but with a blast of hefty motion. Ode to Ochrasy is an on-tour album, documenting the band's 18 months on the road chasing the brilliant Hurricane Bar to every venue imaginable. Here they sound accustomed to the road chaos, taming it with jerking rhythms and chiming guitar interludes, not to mention ample character-driven lyrics where freaks and oddball clubgoers show up. They get barked-at and battered as the band throws two-part harmonies against the stuff of latter-day post-punks: a boozy blast, a smoky-room churn, a downright killer assemblage of riffs and roar. --Andrew Bartlett

5.0 out of 5 stars Mando Diao at their best!, 2 Sep 2006

This review is from: Ode to Ochrasy (Audio CD)
If you're already familiar with Mando Diao, you'll have some idea of what to expect. Catchy riffs, rockin' songs.... The combination of Gustaf's primal scream and Bjorn's soulful blues tones are what have always made this band's records so special, and this album is no exception. From the 'jump up and dance' tunes like Killer Kaczynski and Long before Rock'n'Roll, to the beauty of slow songs like Josephine and Ochrasy, this album is like a bag of Revels, except it only contains the flavours you like! mmmmmm....... Buy it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Destination: Ochrasy - Fasten your seatbelts!, 29 April 2007
By Boudica (Vienna, Austria) - See all my reviews
This being Mando Diao's third album it should come as no surprise that it's exceptionally good - everyone who knows this band would expect that! (And everyone who doesn't: believe me, it is.) Nonetheless I was knocked off my feet when I first listened to it full length: Although of the same excellent quality as their previous records Ode to Ochrasy shows a surprising new side of Mando Diao. For the first time I had the impression of not just listening to really good music but of being swept off into a whole different world - to Ochrasy. Listening to this record for me is like going on a strange journey to this place and meeting some of its residents, half-real characters such as Tony Zoulias, Josephine, Herr Horst and many more... It's quite an experience!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Best Yet, 24 April 2007
By marshee (Hemel Hempstead, UK) - See all my reviews
This album mixs the rawness of Birng 'em In and the fantastic tunes of Hurricane Bar to be Mando Diaos best album to date. It is rock 'n' roll back on top form with fast and furious tunes well balanced by some sweet slow songs to be an album you can listen to whatever your mood. The songs, which are all inspired by people the band have met or have heard about are easy to realate to and there is probably a song on there which can describe most people in the world.
