5.0 out of 5 stars GALLIC COMEDY AT ITS BEST, 29 Oct 2007

(REAL NAME)
This film was nominated for an Oscar as best foreign film. I can't remember which film won but this one would have been fully deserving. The success of the film is partly due to the chemistry and personalities of the two lead players;Marie-Christine Barrault and Victor Lanoux, the two respective cousins both with cheating spouses, who come over as two incredibly likable people and you feel yourself almost cheering them on in their affair. There is one particularly memorable scene when they are in the bath together and paint themselves with body paints which afterwards, they can't get off. The rest of the cast is of an equal caliber. Definitely worth the buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars dvd is messed up, 17 Feb 2008
The film itself is quite likeable (I'd give it a 4 overall), but this particular DVD suffers from color mis-registration that is pretty excessive at the beginning of the film, tapering off somewhere near the middle and disappearing more or less towards the end. (And otherwise the print seem to be fine, which makes it even more disappointing.) In watchable shape, but defintely could have been done better.
