2.0 out of 5 stars Stereotypes, poor acting, 31 Jul 2007
By J. Bull (Brighton UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Poorly acted by most of the cast, this rather silly film enforces the stereotype that all gay men are camp/ and or drag queens. Funny in parts, but not worth the effort. I am a gay man by the way.

3.0 out of 5 stars It should have been a refreshing change, 11 Aug 2007
A film billed as the first Chinese British gay movie should have been a refreshing change but it fails, in the end, to live up to its promise. This is largely due to the uneven acting and the lack of narrative pace in the direction.
The lead actors were able to bring some warmth and drama only sporadically to the story ... the weakest parts were when they were being funny or camp. In mored dramatic moments both leads became much more convincing - and interesting.
The narrative meandered a little - the story didn't need to be stronger, just delivered with more force and imagination. The direction lost pace at various points, meandering between drama and comedy without the necessary tension that this required. This left the viewer with no real desire to engage at any significant level.
This is a shame because I was interested to see the film and, undoubtedly, there were things that I liked. Both leads had the ability to be engaging, if they didn't always achieve it; there were hints at the struggles that face people coping with pertinent gay issues such as being closeted, ethnicity and homosexuality, and the ageing process amongst gay men.
Watch it because all concerned deserve the opportunity to follow up with a better effort.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Rubbish, 26 Jan 2009
By Antyllus (London, UK) - See all my reviews

Don't bother buying this movie - you'll rue the day you spent any money on this.

Contrite, puerile, and mindlessly boggling, this film really stands out for truly dreadful wooden acting with embarrasing Rumpelstiltsken dialogue scenes. Just absolute trash.

Threw the dvd away as I couldn't wish it on anyone else.

I don't write many reviews, but I felt compelled to write a positive review for this film since everyone else seem to think it utter rubbish...which it isn't. Read more
