5.0 out of 5 stars Once again--fantastic!, 29 Jan 2007
Yet another fascinating representation of the Robin Hood legend, continuing the story of our Robin played by Jonas Armstrong, and his relationship with his friends and enemies.

Compared with the first DVD, the acting is still at its best and overall it is a very well put together piece of television. A much darker set of episodes than the first, this DVD helps to piece the whole story together.

Episode 6 shows that the Merry Men are not as able as they would like to be, especially their leader, who shows considerable weakness.

Episode 7 is leading up to the climax in Episode 8 by Gisborne placing Marian under considerable duress, and is an important factor in the whole series.

Episode 8, especially, is a much darker Robin which is a brilliant contrast to his normal peace making ways, and presents a totally different view of what is assumed to be the hero of English folklore.

Episode 9 is, of course, just classic BBC Robin Hood.

The special features of this DVD are a profile of Gisborne, which is important due to what happens in this DVD.

The DVD has all the adult humour of before and the "swashbuckling" action for the children--once again, congratulations BBC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing!, 19 Feb 2007
By Gaby Haas "UK fan" (The Netherlands) - See all my reviews
I love this version of Robin Hood! They did an excellent job on the casting and who doesn't laugh at the funny remarks woven into the script: "I've shot the sheriff! No, you've shot the deputy!"? Two thumbs up. I can't wait for the next series to start!

3.0 out of 5 stars I like it but..., 28 Sep 2007

(REAL NAME)
I like watching this series, but it is a bit too far-fetched for my taste to believe that someone could travel all the way to the "Holy Lands" and back at that period in history in just a few weeks. Not to mention what he is supposed to have done there.. And Maid Marian's Kung-Fu + Tai-Chi skills are also quite ridiculous.

It's fun to watch, but you just gotta ignore the ridiculous parts, which are quite a few actually.
