The Great Bunny Empire..., 26 April 2007
..ok ok, as in Shepherds Bush Empire, but you get my drift.
I'm a little biased as I was there that wonderful night just over a year ago, the bunnies had a refreshed urgent intensity as they turned on an instant psychedelic rock vibe. I always get the shivers as the lights go down , the gregorian chant wisps out of the blue bunnysmoke, and we settle into the chill crafting groove...my faves here, Show of Strength, The Disease, All That Jazz and Scissors in the Sand, but I'm sure you'll have your own, don't hesitate, buy it...thanks as always boys....

Couldn't cut the Mustard, 22 May 2007
I was a tad disappointed by this DVD there are some truly very good moments but much like this gig, which by the way I'd also attended I felt that there was something missing. I've been a fan for some 20+ years and have seen videos of them which to be honest were far more exciting and better than this. I've seen the Bunnymen in London on about 5-6 occasions and for some reasons, notably Mac having a bit of a chip on his shoulder about London and the locals, I know much of this may be tongue in cheek nut I get fed up with him baiting the crowd and letting himself get wound up by hecklers, anyway in my opinion they've never truly delivered in the capital although I will balance that with the fact that if you get the chance to see any footage of them at the Royal Albert Hall in 1982 do so as it's superb.
Back to the DVD in question, the performance is fairly solid all the way through with highlights for me being 'Show of Strength', 'All That Jazz' and 'Into the Margins' their wasn't any particularly bad points just mediocre at times, but Mac really can't sing The Cutter in the way he used to, (probably cigarettes are to blame) but equally other songs have benefited from a lifetime of tabs. I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the film feeling that at times it was a bit grainy and the extra's an interview with Mac and Will filmed in seperate rooms? was interesting enough, one of the questions was, how did you meet Will? Mac replies with, Will met me..... Mac you've done that before it's getting a bit tedious, and you've had the dig's at Bono before come on mate move on. I love this group, always have done, always will, Mac's vocals and Will's guitar are a match made in heaven and with the current recruits I think that they've finally got a drummer who can play with some of the intensity that the great Pete de Freitas did, but I just wish Mac would just occasionally show a bit more respect both to his band and the paying public.

The bunny boys at there best, 2 May 2007
This is the Bunny boys at there glorious best
I was there and can be seen in the DVD at the intro to Villiers Terrace (Audence Shot)
Also went back stage to the After Show Party, so I guess I'm bias
But Really this is where todays sound and vision all Started.
These boys are true inovators and although they have been around for some 30 years they have NEVER SOLD OUT and never look dated.
The 80's - Some of it was Good
