4.0 out of 5 stars RAOUL, 2 Feb 2007

I got to say, this is a top song that does not get on my nerves after a while!
I have to say the band are a great band and there seems to be a few people saying that the screaming words in the background on a few of the automatics songs are irritating, well it may be to you but to me its not that bad. There are a lot of crap in the top ten these days that do my head, but these certainly do not and I think they are a very good band and I hope to hear more stuff from them soon. But Raoul is a top song and is quite catchy!

2.0 out of 5 stars Uninspiring stuff from Cardiff rockers, 22 Dec 2006
By Mr. J. Milton "jambo234" (Brighton) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
At the start of this year it seemed that The Automatic were the best band that 2006 had to offer, their original punk electronica indie music was enough to make a good impression, and they gained many fans extremely quickly. Fortunately, things changed, new bands emerged and music evolved in the way that it should do.
The Automatic in the end, were catchy but ever so annoying. The voice of Pennie constantly screaming words that the lead singer had just sung became irritating after just one song in their dire album, "Not Accepted Anywhere" and it's no wonder that despite their huge popularity, they're doing re-releases.
"Raoul" is a highlight of their debut, but it's not anything to make a fuss about, the novelty of it wares out after a good few listens and it becomes a song that you skip without hesitation, with no intention to ever listen to it again for at least a few months. "Raoul" is no "Monster" in the way that it's not as catchy and it's not as annoying after 20 listens, it's a half decent track, that will never change anybody's life, it's like a new flavour of cereal that you buy and then get sick of it, leaving it in your kitchen cupboard for an eternity. If you heard this at the start of 2006, knowing it was the best new music that was around at the time, you'd never have thought that things would turn around so well.
