Synopsis

Television producer Stephen J. Cannell (Hunter, Wiseguy, 21 Jump Street) scored one of the earliest of his many 1980s hits with THE A-Team. A group of Vietnam veterans falsely accused of a crime during the last days of the conflict, the A-Team was made up of cigar-chomping leader Hannibal (George Peppard), tough guy B.A. Baracus (Mr. T), suave con man Face (Dirk Benedict), and paranoid pilot Murdock (Dwight Schultz). The team survived through employment as soldiers of fortune, humiliating their foes, and standing up for the little guy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good in parts, bad in others!, 3 Aug 2008
After watching the first 4 seasons it became obvious they had to make a few changes in order to keep people interested. In series 4 they added more guest appearances to try and keep things fresh, but it lacked the quality of the previous 3 series. So, the idea of the capture of the a team with the added thrill that they were to face a murder trial, not just for robbing the bank made it that little bit more serious, as the death penalty was the sentance. The first 3 episodes, in my opinion were perhaps some of the best ever aired. Infact, the cliffhanger at the end of episode 2 left me at the edge of my seat. But after those first 3 wonderful episodes, the series really became poor, one episode especially called 'the crystal skull'. Which to my mind was the worst a team episode ever made. I would describe it as being a joke! There were some good episodes like 'The Say Uncle Affair' and 'Point Of No Return' and even the episode 'Without Reservations' had its moments. But the rest was poor. Only 13 episodes and no complete ending or pardon for the a team makes it seem like a series cancelled because of how poorly it was put together.
Its probably obvious that the show would have come to end after this series regardless of how good it could have been, it had its time. But to me its such a shame that after the first 3 great episodes it just went downhill, with new real quality or effort. If you are a new fan and really enjoyed the first four seasons and are thinking about getting this one, please dont expect much - Great in parts, horrible in others, dark, depressing and quite boring. Watch the first three episodes, treasure them and then throw the rest of the set away.

5.0 out of 5 stars the wonderful memories, 28 Sep 2007

Ah! I have such wonderful memories of this show. The cast Gel together so well. And who could forget Hannbals immortal line 'I love it when a plan comes together' And, in spite of everything, they usually do. Plenty of Drama in season 5, Having escaped the death penalty, the Team are now working for Stockwell. George Peppard is simply wonderful as Colnel John 'Hannibal' Smith. Dirk Bennedict plays face wonderfully, the confident con man but, beneath it all there is a vulnerability. BA the big hearted seargant with an attitude. Dwight shultz shines as tormented Young pilot HM Murdock. Classic stuff you'll want to watch over and over.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed bag, but still worth it., 9 Sep 2009

For series like this, the UK was not important to the Americans for keeping a series going.

By the end of series 4, The A-Team was heamorraging viewers. Pity, because I was still liking the classic format. The changes made for Season 5 in a vain bid to keep the series going mostly failed.

That said, there is still a fair bit of 80s A-Team fun to be had here. Enjoy.
