Synopsis

Tony Bennett stars in a variety show that features amazing dance numbers and incredible stage production. The show examines the life and career of Tony Bennett, revisiting all the hotspots where Bennet established himself and built a reputation, AN AMERICAN CLASSIC makes stops in Greenwich Village, the Columbia recording studios, Las Vegas, and Carnegie Hall. The film consists of re-recreations of key moments in the singer's life. Tony Bennett sings duets with a number of stars, including Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Christina Aguilera. Songs include ‘I Left My Heart In San Francisco’, ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’, ‘Because Of You’, and many more. Directed by Rob Marshall (CHICAGO), the show also features special appearances from Robert De Niro, Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, and Billy Crystal.

Whilst Tony is one of my favourite singers he has done himself no favours making this DVD.

It jumps around from black and white to colour. It would indicate that most of the songs are lip sync'd. The audience clapping is an added extra. When there are people visible it tries to give the impression of a full theatre when in fact it would be a stretch of the imagination if there were more than 20.

All in all, the songs are good ones but not on this DVD.

A waste of anyones money.
