I'd read so much about this film I knew I had to see it, if only to assure my self that it was really a tame softcore flick that had been over-hyped and sensationalised due to its 'questionable' content.

It wasn't!

Once past the obviously fetishistic Nazi imagery, the film can be peeled down to a standard women-in-prison movie, not a genre I've ever been interested in. Except this one really has the b****s to carry it off....somehow. The scenes of torture are pretty heavy; not unwatchable, as a lot of the 1970s effects aren't very special, blood tends to look more like melted orange ice cream and the overall hamminess of the acting can distract the viewer into sniggering at inoppurtune moments. That said, this film is still essentialy 'wrong' on so many levels it's just not true, and I doubt it could even get made today! That alone is probably enough to keep those who aren't easily offended glued to the screen to the end.

The amount of flesh on display is staggering, so sexploitation fans will get their fill. But I honestly see this film as more of a brutal S & M picture than anything else. We have flogging in pillories, whipping, hanging, genital torture, nipple torture, watersports, electric shock torture, branding and mutilation, giving viewers who follow the extreme sexual lifestyle a whole lot to chew on. Submissive types will get an awesome kick out of the lead character, played to the hilt by the incredible Ms Thorne (who was about 40 at the time). Dominants can probably smirk smugly at the rather wimpy flogging technique her lesbian lieutenants employ. The curious may well find something to interest them, or even arouse them.Read more ›

I have waited for almost 30 years to see this film. So many people still refer to it that I could no longer remain curious....I did not believe my eyes. This is such unbelievable trash !! And this is the great appeal of this film. It is awful in every conceivable way. The subject matter is sick, the screenplay is virtually non-existent, and Dyanne Thorne acts with all the passion and conviction of a cardboard box. I love it !!

Jesus....

I first saw an poster for this movie way back in my teens and have been curious about it ever since, like the reviewer above i ordered a copy just to confirm that it was just another lame, soft "exploitation" film, i mean the damn thing was filmed back in 1975 how nasty could it be? no piece of trash from the 70s could shock ME, right?

WRONG WRONG WRONG

I watched this grubby little gem in wide eyed disbelief with the occasional muttered "no WAY"......i wont go into details here because A.You wouldn't believe me and more importantly B. I dont believe me!
There is NO way this could EVER be made today, blatant nazi sexual fetishism, ACRES of naked flesh, BUSHELS of pubic hair, brutal female torture, electric dildos....but the thing is,unbelievably this is a well made film, yes there is crap acting, yes the plot makes no sense but there was a decent budget and the production values are such that the SFX are good enough to be disturbing.

So be warned this isn't some harmless piece of 70s giggly nonsense this is EXPLOITATION baby...this time it delivers EXACTLY what it says on the box.

Ilsa She Wolf of the SS [DVD]Evil Ilsa conducts experiments on women to prove they can withstand pain more than any man..and shes got fantastic knockers for a 42 year old!Plenty of sex and perversion in this 70's shocker..but nothing too graphic compared to nowadays.The subject matter could be considered offensive-the title alone should give you fair warning if you're a bit sensitive.If you like seeing oiled-up topless blondes whipping a man and woman to death for just talking to eachother-you're in for a treat.There's a great bit with a big breasted woman in some sort of pressure chamber...blimey!If you want real p.o.w. nastiness I suggest you seek out 'Men Behind the Sun' instead-this would probably seem quite restrained to people used to watching saw,hostel and all that rubbish that's about now.

This iconic film is one of the better examples of the Nazi exploitation genre. Influenced heavily by the excellent Love Camp 7 this film is not as graphic or shocking as people make out, it's certainly no Salo but it does make nice light viewing. The acting is very strong for this type of film and Dyanne Thorne portrays the many sides to Ilsa's personality with conviction. Lots of flesh is on display and plenty of gore throughout the whole film but the sex scenes and gore for the majority are not that graphic and are not shown in too much detail. Some memorable moments include a penis severing, sadistic whipping, a woman being raped to death (not graphic), boiling to death, someone getting hanged at a table whilst people ate a meal and a really good detailed throat slitting scene near the end. Apart from the latter the scenes are far tamer than they sound but are effective due to the overall nasty atmosphere of the film and the competence of the film makers.
