4.0 out of 5 stars ...Finnish cyber thrash..., 30 Dec 2006
By Mr. H "the-rocker.co.uk" (Embra) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
So how's this for a new sub genre - Finnish cyber thrash metal! Well that's what Scorngrain are claiming for themselves. Which, to be honest, makes me a tad nervous, as the word cyber always makes me think of [shudder] Fear Factory.

Luckily for all concerned, this comes down firmly on the side of thrash with a helping of noodle to the side. And when Scorngrain get the bit between their teeth and rage hard, they can be quite ferocious.

The pounding 'Off With Their Heads' is the best example, all "traumatic intrusions, chemical illusions". They can also induce "holy crap" moments as they do on 'Mama Stabber', a song as disturbing as it sounds.

Big props to, presumably, their label, who've ponied up for a quality booklet to display the excellent artwork of H J Villberg. See kids, that's why you should buy, instead of downloading.
