Synopsis

This 80s tweeny cartoon is a young girls' favourite and would become a major influence on the likes of BRATZ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Outrageous, 22 Sep 2006
I have been antisipating this UK DVD release for a good few years now. I have the USA set released a few years ago that are now very rare.

In the Movie (Which is really the first 5 episodes) You learn that Jerrica Benton's father left her half his music company. The other half is run by evil Eric Raymond who won't give Jerrica any money for Starlight house (A foster home for girls that Jerrica also inhereted). Eric want to transform Starlight music with his newest act The Misfits who Jerrica thinks are trash. With the help of Synergy a holographic computer that her father kept secret Jerrica Benton turns into the mysterious Jem, lead singer of the group The Holograms. The Holograms consits of Jerricas Sister Kimber and two life long friends (also former foster girls) Aja and Shana.

Will The Holograms beat The Misfits in the battle of the bands to win Starlight Music from Eric Raymond?

Will Rio, Jerrica's boyfriend ever realise she is also Jem whom he is attracted to?

This movie has a little something for everyone and even new fans will love it, My neice is 7 and watches it all the time!

A great buy at a great price!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Quality., 21 Oct 2006
By Patricia (London) - See all my reviews
I bought this DVD even though I have a copy of the US release, as I was hoping Metrodome might eventually release all 65 episodes, instead of the 45 released in the US.

Unfortunately this DVD has not been remastered at all, and the quality is as bad as my 20 year old VHS tape of the cartoon sitting at the back of my cupboard. I would recommend buying it if you don't have a copy at all, but I did not enjoy the songs as the quality was bad. I wish the studio would release all the episodes in a professional format!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jem Rocks Back, 14 Mar 2007

(REAL NAME)
This cartoon is from the 80's my era cartoons weren't so flash or over the to hi-tec back then it was just story telling The Jem story is how it all began if you were born in the 70's this will most certainly be part of your childhood I think you should buy this and show your child your favorites or if you want to visit the past this DVD can take you back there are many 80's shows coming to DVD so look out and go back to when the cartoons were great

4.0 out of 5 stars Total Outrageous!
amazing show for the 80's, the major flaw with this is that it is the same as the first 5 episodes of the series. Read more
