Excellent debut album, 23 Sep 2006
Alfie Boe has a spectacular voice and this, his debut album, is a wonderful recording. I have been follwing Alfie's story for just a few weeks, but I'm convinced he has a huge, huge future. My husband and I saw him at The Royal Albert Hall and there is no doubt, he stole the show. What sets him apart from the rest is that besides his amazing voice, his stunning good looks and fabulous character, he is the real deal - He trained at The Royal College of Music, The Opera House and then went on to win a Tony award for La Boheme on Broadway - all in his twenties. This is a great album and promises much more to come from this young man. I can't wait for his second album.....

Tremendous, 12 Dec 2006
This CD is fantastic. I've been a vague fan of Opera for years but I often get put off by the voices of, in particular, male performers. Technically they sound great, but there's just something, some quality that stops me really enaging with them. This guy has a tremendous voice. There's an honest quality to it, a complete lack of pretention.
I first heard about him on Radio 4 when they were discussing his career and his discovery whilst working as a car mechanic in the North of England. They played a snatch of Core 'Ngrato, the second track from the album, and I was just blown away. I'd even go so far as to say his version of Nessun Dorma is better than that of Pavarotti who, let's be honest, made it famous in the last couple of years.
I'd definitely recommend it. He's one to watch out for in future.
