3.0 out of 5 stars First half boring, but ok as far as fantasy goes. A sequel, 24 Nov 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dragon Charmer (Paperback)
Although it isn't clear, this is a sequel to Prospero's children, and suffers from the same problem - the first half is boring. The second half is better paced, and comes to an exciting climax. If only Jan Siegel had a stronger editor to whip her into shape.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gets better and better!, 22 Jan 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dragon Charmer (Paperback)
This book follows Prosperos Children after a gap of twelve years in the narrative. While this makes it harder to relate to the vents in the first book, it is well worth the effort! The characters are well developed and it is refreshing to see the changes that have occurred with their growth into adulthood.

I really enjoyed this book, my only problem being that the links between sections of the story seemed slightly tenuous and more could have been made of them as it leaves the reader with a feeling of having missed something.

However I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first book as this carries on the magic created there and always strives to remain original and unpredictable.
