I bought this for my husband for Christmas but in the end couldn't wait that long to give it to him and cracked with five days to go! It was the right decision because this fantastic box set of the original first series will sustain him right the way through the festive season.
I had forgotten just how good these stories were. Wonderfully and cleverly crafted, they make Tom Cruise's version seem quite shallow in comparison.
A fantastic trip down memory lane and, according to my husband, the best Christmas present he's ever had!

Suspend all disbelief and settle back for a ride into the past!

Don't expect to be convinced by it, just as you don't expect to be convinced by James Bond, Harrison Ford and by a great many more 'up-to-date' films and DVDs. jUst relax and enjoy it! The characters are just as good as you will remember from the past, and the adventures they get into are FUN!

I LOVED this series, finding it hard to restrict myself to one DVD a week at times!

Ok - so it's amazing that the same small group of Americans can infiltrate themselves into a range of different nations and can be classed as locals - but forget about that! Forget about the fact that it seems dated - just enjoy the history, the drama and the characters! Enjoy the naivety of it all, and relax!!!

I enjoyed it so much that I have just ordered series 2, and will be ordering the rest as they come out!!!!

I couldn't agree more with the previous reviewer.

I've been waiting for ages for this original series to be released on DVD. The stories are very cleverly written with some brilliant twists and turns.

My favourite actor in this has to be Barbara Bain (also of Space 1999 fame) who plays her character with such suave and sophistication. If only Tom Cruise's modern day version of the original 1960s series was as good then I would have had some respect for it. But for him, his mission to make the films as good, was infact impossible and the original series remains the best.
