4.0 out of 5 stars Why no subtitles?, 23 Mar 2009

I just love to watch Midsomer Murders. It is a fantastic detective series.
But since my daily language is norwegian, I must say that I miss subtitles. English subtitle would have been enough. It's just difficult sometimes to get everything that's said. Still it's very exciting entertainment, and I'm just as surprised every time Dci Barnaby finds out who's done it! It is mystery and detektivework at it's best.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mayhem Continues, 11 Mar 2009
By Barney McGrew "Charlie" (UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (VINE VOICE)
Murder-solving machine DCI Tom Barnaby and his terrier-like sidekick, Sergeant Troy, return for a third series of weird and wonderful goings-on (oh and the odd murder or ten) in that den of iniquity Midsomer County. A missing woman is found drowned in Midsomer Barton; the annual `St. Malley's Day' celebrations are marred by an untimely death and there is scandal and blackmail everywhere. These are just some of the gruesome goings-on in this series which seems even darker in tone than its predecessors and is even more enjoyable for it.
The third collection is notable too for the departure of Barnaby's right-hand man Sergeant Troy, who is promoted to the Met. His replacement, Sergeant Dan Scott, is a city copper and he is bemused by Midsomer's bizarre residents and brutal killings. Together Barnaby and Scott uncover a host of murky secrets and not a few corpses; and the show seems to go from strength to strength. Midsomer Murders is a real guilty pleasure for me - most of my friends scoff at the elaborate and ludicrous storylines and the unreal characters, however I love it and have watched each of these episodes several times. I highly recommend you buy this set, pour a glass of Merlot, pull up a chair, and immerse yourself in some Machiavellian Midsomer mayhem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Martti, 9 Feb 2009

Me and my family really enjoy to watch this kind of films,
especially if those are made on such professional level.
Both, story and performance are important, and in this case
result is brilliant. That fascinating British atmosphere
and characters... Mystery and excitement remain up to end of every
movie. Only thing...since English is not our native language then
sometimes we miss some phrases. Therefore we'd prefer to watch
the movie with subtitles (English). However, this little shortage
doesn't spoil a pleasant feeling to have a wonderful evening with
exciting amusement and a cup of tea with milk :)

As always Midsomer Murders is a true detective series keeping you guessing till the end (or should I say trying to work it out). Not too gory and always worth a second watch.
