Synopsis

Includes the films THE OMEN (1976), THE OMEN (2006), DAMIEN: OMEN II, OMEN III: THE FINAL CONFLICT, and OMEN IV: THE AWAKENING. In the original version of THE OMEN, wealthy American official Robert Thorn's wife Kate has just lost her first child. At the behest of a strange priest, Robert substitutes an orphaned child for his own without Kate's knowledge, and soon the small family is living an idyllic existence on a lavish estate in England. But when the child Damian turns five years old, strange things begin to happen and Kate begins to notice odd things about her child, such as his strange provocation of animals and his increasingly pronounced withdrawal from her. By the time she begins fearing for her life, however, it may be too late, and it's up to her husband to figure out once and for all if the child really is the spawn of Satan. The 2006 version of THE OMEN updates the terrifying story where unspeakable evil is unleashed through Damien - Satan's son and the Anti-Christ. DAMIEN: OMEN II is the second chilling instalment of THE OMEN series where Damien is now a teenage military academy student, and one step nearer the White House. OMEN III finds Damien the Anti-Christ now a wealthy and powerful ambassador. When he sees a cosmic sign that may foretell the second coming of the Christ child, he sends out his minions to kill as many babies as possible. Meanwhile, a group of monks is trying to assassinate him with the seven sacred daggers of Megiddo. Will good or evil triumph? In OMEN IV, Damien returns in the form of a beautiful baby girl, Delia. Adopted by rich, influential attorneys, Delia appears to be a perfect angel. But satanic terror and destruction seem to follow wherever she goes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Missing product information on Amazon.co.uk, 10 Sep 2008
Received the box set today and haven't actually seen the DVD movies yet, however I were slightly worried if all the DVD's from the box-set would all be in widescreen as I wanted them to be, and I found it annoying that no aspect ratio information were given on the Amazon.co.uk site.
So just in case others like I should wish for more information then I can infom you that it on the box-set says that all main features has english subtitles for the hearing impaired and more specifically for each DVD movie it says :

Omen I (2 disc, 30th Anniversary) is in approximately aspect ratio 2.35:1 and sound : English 5.1 and English 2.0 stereo
Omen II is in approximately aspect ratio 2.35:1 and sound : English 2.0 surround
Omen III is in approximately aspect ratio 2.35:1 and sound : English 2.0 surround
Omen IV is in approximately aspect ratio 1.85:1 and sound : English 4.0 stereo
Omen 666 is in approximately aspect ratio 1.85:1 and sound : English 5.1, English 5.1 DTS, English 5.1 Audio Description

I missed the above specific information, hope that you can use it for purchase decision making.

Regards

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Treat for Horror Fans, 25 Oct 2006
By Mr. Patrick A. Harrington "doublethink" (Edinburgh) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have to admit that I'm a big fan of the original film: 'The Omen' (1976). It is quite psychological and centred on the unravelling of the perfect, controlled lives of the central couple. It also touches on the hypocrisy of the apparently solid, strong central character Robert Thorn (played by Gregory Peck). As such it doesn't depend on gore or flashy effects. Many of the performances, like the Satanic Nanny, are understated but filled with menace.

This pentology is not just about the first film, however, it is pretty much exhaustive. Not only does it have the first, second and third film but the remake of the first and made for TV film, 'The Awakening'. If that is not enough you get alternate endings, a featurette on the Omen Curse, the omen music and alternative commentaries (amongst much more). If you are not an expert on 'The Omen' after watching all this then something is wrong with you.

I learned a lot by viewing the bundle. I didn't realise how comparatively small the budget was on the first movie (two and a half million US$) and how the money made had helped to finance George Lucas! The Curse or Coincidence featurette was quite scary. Sometimes I wonder if evil is just an absence of good or a positive (if that's the right word!) force in its own right. Planes getting struck by lightning, accidents during filming - it's all pretty creepy and thought provoking.

The price seems a lot to fork out but really when you consider how much material is here you are getting a pretty good deal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deteriorating quality, 16 Feb 2009
By M. Evans - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The Omen is one of the finest horror films ever made and even after over 30 years it still a powerfully effective and chilling film, with a superbly foreboding atmosphere and a stunning musical score. The acting by al the cast is first-rate and the various deaths are diabolically imaginative and well-executed. The sequels however are increasingly inferior, Damien Omen 2 is a worthy effort, but the performances are very wooden and the story pedestrian while the over-the-top deaths just feel like they're trying to out do the original with diminishing results. Omen 3 sees Sam Neill hamming it up as the adult Damien, a bunch of pathetically hopeless monks trying to kill the antichrist and one of the most ludicrous and nauseating endings I've ever seen. Omen 4 is the worst of the lot, a dire TV movie made years later with a little girl as the new Damien (called Delia!) and a story that's just a dull rehash of the original. A complete waste of time. Then we also get the 2006 remake - one question: why? It's inferior in every respect. So really, only the first film is worth bothering with, Omen 2 and 3 are just about watchable, but save a few hours of your life and give Omen 4 and the remake a miss.
