This excellent release from BGO features two Shirley Bassey albums originally released in 1974 and 1976. Both released for the first time on CD!. The first "Nobody Does It Like Me" was recorded in the USA following the success of Shirley's previous album "Never Never Never". This album was designed to place Shirley in the lucrative US adult contemporary market and results in a different sound to her UK recordings around the same period. Shirley sounds as good as ever, but the overall production is pulled back somewhat. Now 30 years later, this album sounds better than ever, and listeners can't help but wonder why it wasn't a bigger success. Standout tracks include "Davy" a duet with the songs composer; Bernard Ighner (a minor adult contemporary hit in the US) and Paul Anka's "I'm Not Anyone". The album closes with Shirley's beautiful version of Stevie Wonder's "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life". Next is the album "Love, Life and Feelings" from 1976 which placed Shirley firmly back in the UK charts. This album peaked at number 13 and enjoyed a 5 week run in the charts. There is not a single track on this album that does not deserve 5 stars, but for the record you will find many songs associated with Dame Shirley that (strangely) don't appear on many compilations including, "What I Did For Love", "Born To Lose", "Natali" and "If I Never Sing Another Song". Both albums have been expertly re-mastered by the experts at BGO and have never sounded better!

These two albums sound wonderful on this first reissue..the original vinyl albums always seemed to sound a little muffled to me..the sound just wasn't as clear or engaging as Shirleys' other 70's albums ..but BGO have done a really great job with this release .they sound absolutely perfect and thats not a thing you can say about the average cd reissue..they usually sound thin and harsh ..certainly not as good as the original album..Well done BGO !

It's really good to have these two albums back in circulation. BGO are really doing fans of Dame Shirley a great favour by reissuing those albums that EMI didn't get round to.

"Nobody Does It Like Me" is almost the forgotten Dame Shirley album. On the EMI/UA years compilation, it is not mentioned in what is supposed to be a complete discography! Fortunately, BGO did not forget it. Of the two albums reissued here, it is the one I prefer. It presents a good mix of bright tracks and more introspective songs.

"Love, Life and Feelings" is an album whose enjoyment depends very much on the mood you're in. If you're feeling slightly down, it can depress you still further. At other times, it's a good listen. I have to confess I really don't like the song "Natali". Dame Shirley performs it very well indeed but it is one of those songs you either like or not.

As usual, the BGO presentation is exemplary. If you're new to Dame Shirley (there surely can't be anyone who is), this isn't the best collection to start with. It doesn't compete with "Something", Something Else", "I, Capricorn", "And I Love You So", "Never, Never, Never" and "Good, bad but Beautiful" but that doesn't mean it's not worth having. Existing fans of Dame Shirley won't want to be without this collection.
