Album Description
The trailblazing fusion guitarist Al Di Meola breaks new ground on this recording that is brimming with colourful and complex arrangements. The follow-up to 2002's critically acclaimed 'Flesh on Flesh' release, Di Meola's latest project features him on solid-body electric guitar with an emphasis on all the ingredients that made his early recordings like 'Elegant Gypsy' so popular. It includes guest appearances by a wealth of his contemporaries including pianist Chick Corea, drummer Steve Gadd, bassist John Patitucci, keyboardist Barry Miles and others.

Di Meola's electric guitar playing is what first brought him an international following, dating back to 1974 when Chick Corea recruited the young Berklee student as a founder member of the seminal fusion group Return to Forever. In addition to Corea, Di Meola has recorded with a pantheon of jazz and pop giants including Paul Simon, Phil Collins, Santana, John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Luciano Pavarotti, Steve Winwood, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Jaco Pastorius, Les Paul, Jean Luc Ponty, Steve Vai, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Page, Tony Williams, Stanley Clarke, Stevie Wonder, Irakere and many more.

Was really looking forward to this album.

The personnel were first rate and it was good to see Barry Miles, (got 3 of his albums from the mid 70's) making an appearance.

However the album may be 'brimming with colourful and complex arrangements' but far too complex for my ears!
The long tracks seem to go on forever with no structure and are bitty and never really get anywhere.
Yes, great technical ability and musicianship but left me fast forwarding the remote control.

This is a killer album that proves that Di Meola still has got it. I would call Consequence of Chaos a materpiece and I think Di Meola has matured a lot over the years. If you like Di Meola's early work as well as the work he has done the last 10 years you'll love this.

This is a brilliant album. The arrangements are crisp and fresh and the playing is as technically brilliant as anything di Meola has ever done. The songs grow on you. I find it to be a very "happy" jazz album.
