Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

What starts in the city is settled in the canyons as Need for Speed Carbon immerses you in the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing. You and your crew must race in an all-out war for the city, risking everything to take over your rivals' neighbourhoods one block at a time. As the police turn up the heat, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve. Represent your car class, your crew, and your turf in Need for Speed Carbon, the next revolution in racing games.

Key Features:
All-new Canyon Duel and Drift race modes are the ultimate test of skill and nerve, where one wrong turn could cost you more than the race.

Race for control of the city block-by-block by taking down rival crews on their turf, then defeat their crew leaders in life-or-death races in Carbon Canyon.

The revolutionary new Autosculpt car customisation tool gives you the power to design and tweak your crew's cars in every way imaginable.

Affiliate with the Tuner, American Muscle, or Exotic car classes and prove once and for all who makes the best set of wheels. A new physics model makes each class handle and drive differently.

Strategically choose your crew members and then use their skills on the road and in the garage to help you win races and customise your cars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel for "Most Wanted", 2 Jan 2008
By Kometsky (Belgium) - See all my reviews
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game places you in the skin of a racer that used to run the streets of Palmont city. but you had to leave in a hurry after something went terribly wrong. and the time you were away (the time you were riding in Rockport in Most Wanted) a lot changed. the city has been divided in sections and each section is controlled by a crew of street racers.
You have to win races in sectors to control them. after you win a fair deal of races varying from circuit laps over checkpointruns and A to B races to drifting competitions (on closed circuit and in the mountains)
you are challenged by the leader of another crew and that challenge consists of a race through the city and then on to a 2 heat race in one of the canyons that surround the city.
You can still drive trough the city in free roam mode and occasionally you will be noticed by police wich you will have to evade and like in Most Wanted there are pursuit breakers that can keep the heat off you.

positive:
-they cut the dragraces wich were annoying in previous installments
-drifting is a fun new racingstyle instead of dragracing
-graphics are very good for a machine that isn't a true next gen.
-lots of different cars varying from american muscle cars to exotic racers
-a great new style of visual upgrading that lets you shape bodyparts.
negative:
-all races and gameplay is at night so sometimes it gets really hard to see where you're going
-police radio talk is less elaborate than on most wanted (they basically use the same police radiotalk but without the places and positions of Rockport)

All in all this is a worthy followup for most wanted (it even shares thesame storyline)

4.0 out of 5 stars CARBON, 13 Dec 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Working similarly to Most wanted as it is the sequal, there are some changes

The biggest one, is that you dont fly most of the races alone, instead, you have one of your Crew Members to help you out, and there are 3 types you can use
Drafters: When theyre working, drive behind them and you become much faster, go around corners slightly easyer, and when the member stops, you get launched ahead
Blockers: Like a heat seeker missile, they chase after their target and smash into them, making their target spin out
Scout: Works all the time, scouts go on ahead and look for any type of shortcut nd it appears on your mini map for that race, but be careful, just cause its a cut, dont mean that its a faster route

A bad change, is that the first car you chose decides your crews car class, meaning you cant get all the cars in the game on one profile
There are 3 classes
Tuner: A street car which is best for corners
Muscle: Not much of a turner, but acelarates the best
Exotic: Mainly supercars, these things are all rounders

Getting it on the gamecube brings the Graphics down slightly, and instead of seeing the opposing crew leaders open their window and talk to you, you just see the outside of their car and they use a radio

Carbon is a good need for speed game, but if you are one of those people that ae mad about how it looks, then try it on a different console
