15 Again features many of the duo's friends – Mathieu Chedid on guitar riffs, Gladys on vocals, Sébastien Tellier on bass and Pharrell Williams.

Infused with a dance edge, opening track "Toop Toop" starts things off with a Popcorn-like sequence, a Clash-style guitar riff and Zdar's voice, shouting into a megaphone; the title track, "15 Again", features acid house sequences, sung as a duet with Gladys; "Cactus" is an homage to Soulsonic Force; "See Me Now", suggests Gil Scott Heron as he might sound with Alec Sadkin as producer; "Jack Rock" is a devilishly danceable, subtle yet shifting homage to a great house classic; finally, "La Notte" carries a sensual melancholy of after-hours clubs in a Balearic paradise.

I loved both Cassius and 1999 - to the extent that I have a framed 12" sleeve on my wall. So I don't say this lightly: this is utterly, utterly disappointing. 'Toop Toop' and 'See Me Now' are passable, a welcome hark back to Cassius' genius moments from the past such as the spine-tingling 'The Sound of Violence', but it's all downhill from there, culminating in the utter drivel of their doomed Pharrell collaboration, 'Eye Water'. Dishwater, more like: this is cringeworthy, preachy stuff about 'car emissions killing ozone layers' and 'little children saying their prayers'. Honestly, it's awful, terrible, embarrassing stuff, and just begs the question: how much energy was used up in recording this tosh, let alone producing the CDs and shipping them around the world?
Moving on, it never reaches those lows again, but just as damningly, there's nothing new here at all, which, given the exciting and vibrant state of French music right now (both dance and rock) is unforgiveable. Given how good we know Cassius can be, this is a half-arsed effort, a collection of unfinished tunes from the cutting-room floor rather than anything new, exciting or fresh. Perhaps Cassius need to hang out with their Kitsune buddies, plug into the new wave of electro, nu-rave, rock and minimal sweeping France and beyond, and come back with something memorable, as their fans know they can.
