Product Description

In this series, a wedding party takes over the ward suffering from food poisoning, a prisoner is denied medical care and suffers a heart attack in his cell, and a woman is rushed to casualty after she swallows the drugs she was trying to smuggle through the airport. Episodes are: 'Welcome to Casualty'; 'Desperate Odds'; 'Drake's Drum'; 'Absolution'; 'Burn-Out'; 'A Quiet Night'; 'A Wing and a Prayer'; 'Living Memories'; 'Inferno'; and 'Caring'.

Synopsis

One of the BBC's flagship dramas, Casualty depicts the lives of the patients, doctors, nurses and paramedics attending the frantically busy accident and emergency department of Holby General Hospital. Now approaching its twentieth year on television, this is where the series began: the hard-hitting politicised storylines; the accurate portrayal of life in the casualty departnment; and that theme tune. At a time when medical dramas produced in the UK were thin on the ground, this was a truly ground-breaking show, often eclipsing equivalent drama programmes from the othe side of the pond.

Features every episode from series three: "Welcome to Casualty", "Desperate Odds", "Drake's Drum", "Absolution", "Burn Out", "A Quiet NIght", "A Wing and a Prayer", "Living Memories", "Inferno" and "Caring".

Format: DVD
The third series of Casualty continues the trend of it's two predessors in much the same style and vain.

This was the final series that the original creators Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin were involved in and maybe one of the reasons none of the later series have been released on DVD to date. This was also the series that saw the last appearances of series regulars Dr Ewart Plimmer and porter Kuba who had been strong characters in Casualty from the very start. This left only nurses Charlie, Duffy and Megan left from the original cast of 1986. Subsequately the series drifted away from it's origins after this series and become a regular character 'turnover' programme with most regular characters only tending to stick around for a year or two.

Still this DVD set is a nice treat and includes some fine episodes.

This boxset continues on from Series 1 and 2 to make this programme still one of the best. I am so unhappy to still learn the BBC are not planning on making anymore of these on DVD. However, I recommend this is a must own in all households.

My mum and I have just started to watch this series of Casualty as she got series 1,2 and 3 for her birthday last year. We are absolutely loving watching these episodes and to see the old characters and to see Charlie, Megan and Duffy is brilliant. I cant wait until they release more series of Casualty as I want to buy more for my mum as she loves watching all the old episodes. If you are a fan of Casualty you will love this!!

It was bought as a birthday gift, and my grandson was extremely happy with it. He got series 1 and 2 for Christmas, but had to wait till his birthday for series 3.
