Superb Bargain Buy!, 3 Sep 2006
Ok giving out 5 stars isn't something i do often, but this monitor truely deserves it. The picture is gorgeous and crystal clear. the response time is very quick so even very fast paced games like UT have no ghosting what-so-ever. some people are a little reluctant about buying a widescreen monitor (esp. gamers) and i was too, but after 5 minutes with this monitor i realized that widescreen > standard without a doubt. most games support 1440x900 and if they don't then you can use a different resolution and it still looks good. this thing is cheap as dirt too, but it's quality FAR surpasses its price, it should cost about 4 times more. Best monitor available in this price range

My Opinion, 22 Feb 2007
It's a cool Monitor, I've got it today, link to my Xbox 360 only, haven't tried my PC cause I got a LG 17" TFT looking after it. The contrast ratio is 700 with which I am very pleased as I have the chance to compare it with an 500 one(my LG 17") Games look sharp and juicy.
Still, here is a couple of things you should know before you choose it:
1. The pre-set color sets are not very good, I configured it myself, which is
R 84 G 90 B 90 now. This could explain why some one said DVDs are little washed out. If you use "Default"(50,50,50), they will...
2. Cheap ~~ Yeah, Made in China, Jiangsu Province, Grave of electronic devices...New one made by disembling old ones... Be aware...
3. Response time --> 5ms not 8ms, so it is good for games, set to widescreen in 360 dashboard, then you can play all EA games including Need for Speed series in HD (High Definition) mode.
4. Red is still a little bit like pink...
5. Auto adjusting key works pretty well, each time you've done some changes on the display settings run it to let the monitor fit.
In a word, I recommend this one to money savers, it will only be a wonderful purchase if you are satisfied with the above and the manufacturer's description of this product.

I'm around 5-6 months late with this review. I didn't post a review initially due to being inexperienced with LCD faults, then later forgetting about adding my review on here.
The monitor arrived fine from Amazon - No dead pixels, no backlight bleed. After a couple of days I started to notice the bottom and top of the screen started showing what I've come to know as serious backlight bleed...the bottom of the screen actually turned bluish, obviously being very visible during anything dark in movies. The left and right sides were also had backlight faults, not anything like the bottom of the screen but still annoying when watching dark scenes.
I didn't get a replacement/refund from Amazon, I told myself I was being too picky after my TV problems over the last few years. I put up with it for 4 months before contacting Hanns G, who were very happy to exchange my monitor with 2 that developed the very same top and bottom of screen backlight problems the one I ordered from Amazon had. I'm trying to decide if it's worth risking exchanging it again.
It's odd, you don't see people mentioning this model having serious backlight bleed, 90% of the reviews are positive. I fail to see how I could possibly get 3 of the same model monitor to develop the same backlight fault over time, it doesn't seem likely that I'd be unlucky 3 times in a row with the same bluish light along the bottom of the screen.
Positive? It's cheap (I paid £135 + £5 delivery back then...), has good PQ for the price and has a DVI port. It's hard for me to say much on the positive side about when the backlight ruins it during anything that isn't bright!
