The follow up to "Classic Rock Presents Prog Rock", this 37 track 2 CD set can be summed up thus; CD1 is one of those cheapo service station rock comps you buy at three in the morning when you're absolutely convinced that you need another copy of "Ramblin' Man" by the Allman Brothers Band to go with the 37 copies you've acquired on previous visits to service stations at three in the morning. 19 tracks you'll never need to hear again, with the honourable exception of Sir Frankie Miller delivering "Be Good To Yourself".

CD2, however, hits the mark. For a start it contains the greatest blues rock track. Ever. And don't bother arguing, I'm right and you're wrong. That track is "Roadhouse Blues" by Status Quo. Oh, yes. A track so good it should be fed to unborn children to ensure that they born with a chance of appreciating the boogie. It should be cryogenically frozen and sent off in unmanned space missions to subvert any notion of alien invasion. How can you fire a gun when you have both thumbs stuck through your belt whle you indulge in some no nonsense, mindless boogie. Add in ZZ Top, Dr Feelgood, Johnny Winter, Taj Mahal, Joe Walsh, George Thorogood and the still stunning after all these years blast of "Snortin' Whiskey", courtesy of Pat Travers, and you will wanna put on, put on, put your boogie shoes.

There are some oddities over the 2 CDs. Golden Earring? A Stevie Ray Vaughan instrumental? Chris Farlowe doing 60s pop? And no Foghat! Criminal. There's nothing new or rare as it goes for the obvious, but CD2 almost makes up for CD1, and it'll go down a treat in Tesco.
