    5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 1 Dec 2006

An awesome piece of kit once you get used to SonyEricsson's menu systems and quirky back button. The interface is very different if you're coming from a Nokia, but well worth the effort.

It comes bundled with a 512MB ProDuo memory card which can store about 10 albums on at decent quality, but pay an extra £100 or so and you can slot in a 4GB card - hey presto, an iPod Nano for £60 less. OK, so its slower to access tracks and you don't have the "badge" of an iPod but they can't make phone calls, access the radio and internet or take nice and sharp 2 megapixel photos. The free headphones are really good quality - only criticism is that the soft rubber plugs tend to fall out of your ears when running. You can buy bigger ones quite cheaply though.

Overall, an amazing piece of kit. You won't be disappointed.

    5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, 1 Jan 2007
I wasn't really after an mp3 player/ phone combo or anything other than a nokia but this sold itself just as a phone. The excellent mp3 player is a full on walkman complete with user defined playlists etc.

The headphones are excellent quality and double as a hands free (also acts as antenna for the radio) so you can use the walkman and not miss calls - the music pauses for the call.

Mp3 and wav files can be used as ringtones or message tones. It will play about five seconds for a message tone.

Personally I prefer my music loud and sony are a bit too user friendly -trying to save our hearing without our consent! I increase the volume of files using expstudios free audio editor and then convert it back to an mp3 (you can save as mp3 if you purchase the pro version) with exp ripper/converter/merger. All of which are available free at download.com but you'll have to clean any of download.com's files as they contain adware. Once cleaned the software is fine and the exp software is the best free stuff I've ever found.

As a hardcore nokia user it has always been a mistake to change brand especially when changing to samsung which I did and regretted. I was going back to nokia but was open to the possibility of a sony being better than nokia. I do not regret buying this phone at all - it's one of the best buys around but if you don't use a walkman, it's a waste of money for you. Somebody above mentioned that the phone will take up to 4GB memory stick duo but officially it only handles a 2GB stick which I have and it works fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars I use it for music, 6 Jun 2007
By Mr. S. P. Bentley (UK) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I've had this for a month with no problems so far. I have an old MP3 player with 1GB and hated swapping files on the pc after I got bored with those 240 songs, so bought a 4GB card and haven't looked back (I've read somewhere only 2GB is supported by the phone but if you look on the SanDisk website they say 4GB's are fine). The 'Disc2phone' software that comes with the phone is really easy to use (I've already ripped my CD's using MediaPlayer), but even with a 'high speed' read/write card (Sandisk, from Amazon) it takes about an hour to copy 200ish songs to the phone.

The (ear-bud) headphones are pretty good but I prefer my cheap Sennheiser (also ear-bud) CX300's, although the supplied phones have a short cable (due to the remote mic built into a separate lead/adaptor) so any other phones leave you with miles of cable to wrap around your body/pockets/etc.

I've found the photo's are good quality although I haven't figured-out if the light can be used as a flash? One complaint is the lens has no cover so I've bought a bodyglove case that might help a little (still no lens cover, but it's recessed more). There are a few effects, zoom etc so pretty good for a phone.

Ah yes, it's also a phone, and has excellent battery life. This may be in part because the display is always turning off if you don't do anything for a few seconds, so I've left it on a few times overnight as there's no way of knowing if it's on or not (without pressing a button that is)! All the usual phone stuff but the two games supplied seem a bit mean. I haven't been bothered to download new games yet.

Overall I got this as a music player so overall I think it's great!
