I know it's a sugary title for my review, but that's what this album is, it's a truly beautiful, love-filled piece of work by a talented young singer-songwriter. I've seen him perform a few times now (most recently at the Edinburgh Fringe) and am mesmerised by the intensity he brings to his songs, he'll take you soaring with a guitar monologue then back down again to finish a song with tones so quiet, the audience are hushed and holding their breaths. The comparisons with Nick Drake and John Martyn are obvious, but somehow he manages to combine the fragility of one, with the confidence of the other, to create a sound that's new, yet rooted in the 60's and 70's. This, his first album, is stunning, and sympathetically produced by Jon Hopkins who has introduced subtle backing that never overwhelms the simplicity of Dan's playing and singing. I can't wait for the follow-up album, I've already played this one to death. Meantime, for those of you yet to discover this guy, buy this album, I guarantee it will make you feel good and will make the summer last longer.

My daughter bought me this CD for Christmas, neither of us having heard anything about the artist at all before. I can only endorse what the other reviewer says, it's absolutely brilliant and cannot fault a single track.If you like Nick Drake or John Martyn then you will not be disappointed.BUY it NOW!!!

I saw Dan Arborise play about 2/3 years ago, first slot on a Sunday morning, everyone (including him!) very hungover, a big-top tent full of people just about waking up with the first rays of what was going to be a blisteringly hot day. Half his set was beautiful improv, layering beautiful melodies that seemed to weave in and out for ages. In circles gets close to this but with some more standard/structured songs as well and although there seemed to be a bit of texture missing from a few songs you could argue that I've been spoiled by seeing him live. This is a really great folk/acoustic album, I'd highly recommend buying it, and I'd recommend seeing him live even more!
