I first heard about this album when it came out a year ago and it's taken me over a year to get round and buy it. As a whole the album fits together perfectly like a 100 piece jigsaw of sound. It's hard to sum up the sound of Grails in words, they really have to be listened to, to appreciate how good they are, but rest assured if you are fans of Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Explosions in the Sky you'll love this. However the music is a lot darker than the latter. Imagine what a band would sound like if the watched nothing else but David Lynch movies and you'd be somewhere close to describing the sound of this record. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.
