Product Description

CD Description

The follow-up to the million selling 2004 debut 'Up All Night', Johnny Borrell and Co release their self-titled second album. Recorded in London and produced by Chris Thomas (U2, Pulp, Elton John), this effort delivers a more mature, anthemic sound, drawing comparisons with Oasis' 'Definitely Maybe' and consolidating Razorlight's status as one of Britain's top guitar bands. Includes the single 'In The Morning'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Razorlight Album, 21 Jul 2006
By Ben Mitchell "Mitch31" (Swansea) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
At first I was dissappointed with the follow up album, but it grows on you. I totally loved the first "Up All Night" it was punky and Borrels voice is brilliant. However the second has a more mature relaxed attitude about it which is refreshing. Highlights for me include "America" , "In the Morning" which is akin to their first album. The amazing fact with Razorlight is that they are coming up with new ideas which for me indicates they are a band on the up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Razorlight come of age, 16 Jul 2006
By mac "mac" (Ireland) - See all my reviews
I got my hands on a copy of this album last Friday and I've been listening to it ever since - it is outrageously brilliant!! Razorlight have obviously taken into consideration the few, rare faults that were in their debut album when making this one - the sound this time is much more tighter and compact. Even though there are fewer songs and the album on a whole only lasts 35 minutes, it's a pure case here of quality over quantity as there is not a single song that could be classified as a filler. Yes all the songs are superb but my personal favourites include the soon-to-be-released single "America", "Kirby's House" and "Back to the start".The sublime "I Can't Stop This Feeling I've Got" has shades of the song "Up All Night" from the debut album. The critics have been raving about this album already and so you might think it's being too over-hyped, not true. Razorlight have quite simply created a masterpiece.

2.0 out of 5 stars A disappointing follow-up, 15 Jul 2006
By Mr. N. J. Kempson - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've only listened to Razorlight's second album twice through so far, but I'm afraid to say I'm disappointed in it. Nearly all the energy from Up All Night has vanished and it seems to be that there's a lot of lyric repeating as they amble to the end of a song just to lengthen the songs, and even then they struggle - the album length is just 35 minutes!

When I went to see them play live ~18 months ago they were brilliant, loads of energy and passion in the performance; I think if they were to do a gig of songs just from this second album, the audience would soon get bored.

I'm hoping I will like it more after a few more listens but currently I'm not sure that it'll be staying on my playlist for that long.

The comparison to Oasis - Definitely Maybe made in Amazon's review made me laugh; Razorlight is nowhere near that league.
