Product Description

Album Description

'Better Things To Do' is an open-hearted love song that feels like a great big hug. It's a fanfare for the simple things that bring us most joy, whether it be watching DVDs and getting drunk at home or just wandering around with someone you really love.

The single features two exclusive b-sides. 'Leave My Brother Alone' is a moving tribute to the trials of brotherhood whilst 'The Other Rush Hour' is a hard-edged appraisal of modern attitudes to sex and class.

There's also an extensive multi-media section to the CD with lyrics, photographs and an entire extra set of songs in mp3 format. 'Zipcodes' is a 'virtual cassette' featuring six more songs recorded by MJ Hibbett at home. Highlights of this set include a patriotic call to drink ('Sod It, Let's Get Pissed') and the title track, a meditation on a childhood spent reading Marvel comics.

This is the first single from the band's forthcoming album 'WE VALIDATE!', featuring 11 other brand new songs.

About the Artist

o MJ Hibbett & The Validators' previous album of new material, 'This Is Not A Library', was named 'Album Of The Year' in 2003 by Rolling Stone Online.

o Tim Pattison previously drummed for indie legends Prolapse, toured America with Stereolab, and has played with the likes of Cornershop and Thurston Moore.

o Frankie Machine is a renowned singer songwriter in his own right when he's not playing bass for The Validators and was also part of number one hit-makers White Town.

o Violinist Tom McClure has previously worked with bands such as The Chemistry Experiment and Lazarus Clamp and is a member of The Leicester Symphony Orchestra.

o Emma Pattison joined the band after she and MJ wrote and performed a song together at her wedding to Tim. Grown men cried. The song (and wedding video) was featured on 2005's 'Rest Of' compilation 'Warriors Of Nanpantan'.

o MJ Hibbett was recently approached by a major publishing house to write his Rock Autobiography, which he hopes to finish writing later this year.

o In 2004 MJ Hibbett acted as Steve Lamacq's European Cup Correspondent, following the release of 'The Fair Play Trophy (again)' on their 'Shed Anthems' EP.

o Most of 'WE VALIDATE' was recorded in six days at a residential recording studio in Cornwall which was previously owned by Lemmy's son. In tribute to this 60% of the band grew moustaches while they were there.

o Further material was recorded in Derby with Robbie Newman from up-and-comers Plans & Apologies, with additional overdubs recorded in Leicester by Kev Reverb from Grebo legends Crazyhead.
