1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap - and now I know why, 1 Oct 2007
By T. Moss "tim_moss10" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Initially I was very pleased with the set up, a simple to use display and a very sensitive chest-strap that works with the gym machines for the very effective feedback heart rate training. However, as the other reviewer (no relation) mentioned, after a couple of weeks training, the readings were erratic, displaying an unlikely athletic 55bpm when I was a human pool of sweat, or displaying a hyperventilating kitten's heartbeat upon walking up the stairs to the gym. Changing batteries has done nothing. So personally I would recommend you do not buy this product. It is cheap but it is not good value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great HRM for price, 6 Feb 2007
By P. Wimpenny - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This Oregon HRM is a bargain at this price and records an accurate heart rate direct from a chest strap so that you can keep within a safe range of excercise for your age. When you have manually entered your minumum and maximum heart rate (formula given in the instructions) you can set an alarm to warn you when you are under and overperforming in the gym. It also has a stopwatch and cool blue light. Most of these entry level HRTs start at about £30 so I would recommend this. You won't be disappointed.

By Colin Clitheroe (Hants) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As an ex fitness instructor I can recomend this item, does all you would want and for less than you should expect to pay. Its as good as any I have used in a gym before and its simple to use. One of my best buys.
