4.0 out of 5 stars Return to Form, 7 Jul 2006
By Mr. G. Wadhwani "Gaurav W" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
An excellent single. GM's latest effort is an attempt to marry his unique ballady style with a more contemporary R'n'B sound. The result is a fast-paced, catchy and smooth tune, much like some of his old hits e.g. "Fastlove" and "Amazing". The novelty lies in the genuine R'n'B feel. The lyrics bear a familiar theme - of the singer choosing to live his own life, rather than what is expected of him. In a musical sense, however, fans of his catchier numbers will be delighted with this effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and Funky, 4 Jul 2006
By Richteabiscuit (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews
This is a great new up tempo single from George Michael. It has a catchy beat that is sure to get you tapping your feet and singing along. Musically it reminds me of some of his great songs from the past such as "Too Funky" or "Fastlove". I would say its his best single release since 1998's "Outside" and "As". The B-side is a live version of "Brother Can You Spare A Dime". Its well performed- its even better than the studio version that appeared on "Songs From The Last Century" album. Overall a very good single that has left me looking forward for the new songs that are due to appear on the future "George Michael 25" greatest hits collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars A disappointing launch for the tour, 2 Aug 2006
By C. Mes (England) - See all my reviews

Let me get this, erm...straight, I am a truely devoted George Michael fan and have been a serious collector since 1983. However, I have been somewhat disappointed with his recent direction in music. AN EASIER AFFAIR is by no means rubbish, but it pales in comparison to other fine works of upbeat art such as FASTLOVE and OUTSIDE. Its introduction is reminiscent of those old dodgy adult film soundtracks from the 1970s, and then it treads lightly into AMAZING territory before sweeping into a half-decent chorus which really needs a bit more punch to it to make it memorable. The song has grown on me somewhat over the past few weeks, but if it heralds some new music on the forthcoming anticipated '25' hits album and tour, then I honestly despair (but I'll never give up on him!).

Well...I don't really know what to say other than, firstly to thank George for releasing such a great track. His voice and melody really match the power of the lyrics. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Just OK
OK, but he seems to have forgotten to include a tune. Uptempo with the breathy vocals he likes to do; but the tune, where is it?
