Get set for a toontastic adventure! The evil Cogs are out to steal the magical ToonTown away from the zany Toons--and the Toons need YOUR help to stop them! Join in the fun and create your very own Toon, name them, furnish your estate--and then live the life of a Toon.

The action takes place in ToonTown, a cartoon city inhabited by classic Disney cartoon characters. However ToonTown and the Toons are at risk from the evil Cogs who are trying to take over the city. You must prevent this at all costs! As a Toon your strongest weapon is laughter, so you'll need to buy as many side-splitting gags as you can from Goofy's Gag Shop to defeat the nasty cogs. From water pistols to falling pianos, the Cogs just can't stand a laugh.

There are magical lands with masses of fun games and challenging missions which earn you jelly beans to buy more and better gags. You'll have to team up with other players in order to defeat the strongest, meanest Cogs though!

The PC CD-ROM comes complete with the first month's subscription plus 5 FREE bonus games worth £24.99.

Once registered, you receive a ToonTown Welcome Pack through the post--monthly Toontown Newsletters--and the opportunity to join in lots of free Toontown competitions with your own Toon character!

I have been against subscribing to games since, well, it began. Games like World of Warcraft etc. have never really appealed to me, as I find the subject of senselessly killing masses to gain enough gold to eventually buy that coveted "Gold Ring of Fire" a bit underwhelming.

Yet, the idea always seemed great. But why the needless killing and seriousness? It was seemingly fate then, when my (much) younger cousin told me to have a go on it, giving me a loan of his copy.

My first impressions were the same as of all online games so far - there is no way I am subscribing to this. Paying �7 a month seemed fair, but still too excessive when you will never really "own" the game. This pre-paid one moth subscription is a good investment however.

One month is most probably the correct amount of time to adjust to the game. It is unlike just about anything else released on the PC. It has sumptious, colourful graphics, complemented astonishingly well by the contrasting grey "Cog" buildings. You can easily tell the bad guys from the heroes in this game!

Toontown offers many things to keep a whole family amused - constant real-time strategy that rarely wears thin, go-kart racing that is fun of the purest order, decorating your house, buying a pet, defeating the evil Cogs. It's a fantastic game that will draw you in from the word go.

It's still a monthly subscription, though...

I didnt buy the disc, but if you purchase it and buy it straight online it works too. it keeps you intertained for years, and i am not overreacting. You can have six toons on one account, making it fun for all the family. Choose from several crazy critters to play the game with: a horse, a cat, a dog, a monkey, a bear, a rabbit, a duck, ETC... It is always expanding and you can make new real life friends by talking to people who play the game, using the complex-yet-simple SPEEDCHAT. You can choose from certain phrases to say, so it is safe for the whole family. Meet some classic disney characters such as goofy, micky and minnie, daisy, donald and a lot of random people on your toontown adventure. Use gags to battle the evil cogs and destroy them once and for all, and if the simple fighting gets too much, then why not go fishing, kart racing... or take the fighting to the next level as you face new dangers fighting the Vice President, Cheif justice, Cheif financial officer, and Maybe even in the future the Cheif executive officer. But will you get bored if there is a storyline to follow? Not even for possibly a few years. Help the shopkeepers, get access to seven different types of gags, and fourty-two gags in all. Who knows, you may even get a place on the top toons list!

I am not the best person to make this review, it was a birthday present for my daughter aged 9 - I can only tell you that she loves this game, having played it in out of school club for months, she nagged me and nagged me to get it. All round we were pleased as it was her best present and it was cheap as chips!
