Product Description
Two of French cinema's biggest stars illuminate the screen in this sexually charged story of an affair between a couple of young Parisians whose backgrounds are worlds apart. Gérard Depardieu plays Loulou, a layabout and petty thief who meets middle-class Nelly (Isabelle Huppert) in a nightclub. Nelly is bored by her job in advertising and by the possessiveness and violent tempers of her boss and lover André (Guy Marchand). Much to the disbelief of André, Nelly decides to leave him and move in with Loulou. Featuring brilliant performances from its cast, Maurice Pialat s atmospheric portrait of low-life Paris won him international recognition and acclaim.
Synopsis
French film luminaries Isabelle Huppert and Gerard Depardieu star in this bittersweet romance. Loulou, a petty crook and full-time slacker, forms a tentative relationship with Nelly, a determined, if emotionally fragile, advertising worker. They care a great deal for each other, but they argue with uncomfortable regularity. Their union is affected, furthermore, by the tumult that rules their lives: Loulou steps up his criminal activity by enticing Nelly into joining him in a warehouse robbery; and she still carries on an affair with her boss. When Nelly becomes pregnant, both she and Loulou realise that their love must blossom...or wither.
