5.0 out of 5 stars just smashing, 17 Jun 2007
i love this, really getting into black mountain/ pink mountaintops, so it was a dream to find blood meridian. a total treat. stoner country grunge lazy rock.'work hard' is a classic, addictive drumming, sarcastic lyrics. kick up the dust is awesome. words are not enough really.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hackneyed, self-pitying alternative country wannabees.., 10 Dec 2006
When I first heard clips of this album, I liked it enough to give it a go - its immediate alternative country sound reminded me of Neko Case, Johnny Cash and Nick Cave, although this may have been because the latter two are influences of the band. A second listen proved Blood Meridian have not a pinch of the originality or intellect of these three, with the band's limited vocabulary making the lyrics sound embarrassingly cliched and self-pitying - and would perhaps be better targeted at the teenage angst market.
