Product Description

Italian satirist Sabina Guzzanti, who was banned by Silvio Berlusconi from appearing on state television in her native country, presents this tongue in cheek exposé of the corrupt Italian broadcasting elite. Guzzanti discusses the nature of political satire with comedians from other European countries, and reveals the shocking truth about how Berlusconi and his government have conspired to control the Italian media and suppress criticism.

Format: DVD
Being Italian, I saw this documentary more than a year ago, and loved it straight away as it portrays the Italian government perfectly. It is exceptionally funny, but at the same time quite scary as it shows how Italy's freedom of speech and liberty of having contrasting opinions was unfortunately degrading into a one man show. Incredibly truthful the scene with journalists discussing the situation, which I believe shows exactly what most Italians felt about the circumstances. I would advise everyone to watch it, even if not interested in politics as it portraits the state the nation was in fairly well.

The country of Dario Fo, Pasolini, Falcone and countless other fearless champions for creativity and political freedom has unbelievably allowed Berlusconi (Blair's best bud) to take political and media power. Perhaps it is their ultimate satirical act. Perhaps not.
Sabina Guzzanti is brilliant and brave in her relentless exposure of the craven mediocrities who tried to kill public access to her true and scintillating satire. Buy this.

Format: DVD
Silvio Berlusconi and his power over Italy are depicted very well in this part satirical documentary looking at the bizarre decisions made at Italian brocaster RAI. The film is in English, Italian and French with English subtitles on screen for the Italian and French dialogue.
This is certainly an eye-opener for those unfamiliar with Berlusconi's control of Italy during the first decade of the 21st century.
