THIS DVD HAS A GOOD DOCUMENTARY AND TELLS SOME INTERESTING FACTS AND STORIES BUT IT NEEDS A WHOLE LOT MORE EXTRAS.THERE HAVE BEEN PLENTY OF MANAGER MATCHES OVER THE YEARS AND SOME SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED I.E: JIMMY SNUKA V LOU ALBANO (1983), BOBBY HEENAN V BIG BOSSMAN IN A BALL AND CHAIN MATCH (1990), PAUL ELLERING V GENIUS(1992) AND BEULAH V BILL ALFONSO(2000).THE DVD IS STILL WORTH WATCHING THOUGH.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Of WWE's Greatest DVD's...., 20 May 2006

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Anyone who's followed wrestling over the last several years would have noticed the steady decline in wrestling managers. The reason is quite simple. In an era of quick-fire promos and "rants", a wrestler doesn't necessarily need a mouthpiece. That's not to say however, that managers have outlived their usefulness and should be forgotten about quickly.

The wrestling boom of the late 80's, early 90's will never be forgotten, but once you get past the wrestlers themselves, you'll remember characters like Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Mr Fuji, Sensational Sherri and Miss Elizabeth. These managers were just as responsible (sometimes, peharps more so) for putting butts in seats as their protege. While most of their respective wrestlers were already "over" with the crowd, it was the manager's job to make sure that it stayed that way.

This profile-style DVD pays tribute to the men and women who changed the wrestling industry and helped build what we see today. Giving their opinions are various "talking heads" (comprised of both wrestlers and those who work behind-the-scenes), who each give valuable insight into their subjects.

In between the comments are some nice snippets that explain what makes a successful manager and as the documentary continues, we see how the role of a manager has evolved over the years. For example, in the 1980's, fans of all ages detested Bobby Heenan. In the 1990's, teenage boys were swooning over Sunny (who is described as somewhat of a pioneer for the Divas that followed in her footsteps).

If I were to find fault with the DVD, I would say that the use of Todd Grisham as a presenter is unnecessary, as the guy adds nothing and spoils the overall presentation somewhat. Also I think Mr Fuji should have had his own profile piece.

Still, this DVD is very informative and will explain to newer fans why weasels were the bain of Bobby Heenan's life, how Captain Lou Albano got a job as the voice of Super Mario and how Freddie Blassie was the "Hollywood Fashion Plate". Fans who aren't necessarily pro-WWE will also enjoy the use of WCW staples such as Jim Cornette and Paul E Dangerously (Paul Heyman).

The extras are also impressive. There's classic matches, interviews, a down-right barmy "Miami Vice" spoof with Fuji, a heart-warming music video of Macho Man and Elizabeth and a sexy birthday message from Sunny.

Overall, this is a well-researched, very informative production that it is worthy of its purchase price. Even if you haven't watched wrestling in years, watching this may rekindle your interest, or at least give you fond memories from your childhood.
