Decent WrestleMania, but not a classic., 3 Jun 2006
OPENER: WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS - CARLITO & CHRIS MASTERS VS. KANE & BIG SHOW (C)
Wise choice as opener and decent match, kept at a reasonable pace. Still, the match was far from the quality all four competitors could achieve and the ending seemed quite rushed to me. Average opener.

#2: MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH - RAW'S SHELTON BENJAMIN VS. ROB VAN DAM VS. RIC FLAIR VS. SMACKDOWN!'S MATT HARDY VS. FINLAY VS. BOBBY LASHLEY
Great ladder match featuring some well-performed spots and all six wrestlers showing their strengths in the match. Not as good as a lot of classic ladder matches, but still very good. Benjamin is man of the match for the second year running.

#3: U.S. CHAMPIONSHIP - JBL VS. CHRIS BENOIT (C)
Started off very well with some great technical wrestling and a nicely performed face/heel scenario. However, the match ended disappointingly early at the 9 minute mark. With more time, could have been a much better match. Still a good attempt.

#4: HARDCORE MATCH - EDGE VS. MICK FOLEY
Excellent hardcore match, featuring many different varieties of weapons along with an amazing finishing sequence. However, unlike others, I wouldn't call this the greatest hardcore match ever. It could have gone an extra few minutes and there were too many times where WWE went for an easier route out of a situation. See Royal Rumble 2000 for a classic hardcore bout. Edge's facial reaction at the end is priceless.

#5: HANDICAP MATCH - BOOKER T & SHARMELL VS. THE BOOGEYMAN
Embarrasingly bad match. Boogey hits barely any offence and Booker has to pretty much carry him for the entire bout. It ends quickly, fortunately, but the damage was done. Booker deserves much better. Excellent backstage segment before the match, though.

#6: WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - MICKIE JAMES VS. TRISH STRATUS (C)
The fans were cheering for Mickie here, which was a bit of a problem. This was possibly the best women's match in WrestleMania history, as both women played their feud well and the action never really became unentertaining. However, it wasn't quite up to the quality of their match at NYR earlier this year.

#7: CASKET MATCH - MARK HENRY VS. UNDERTAKER
Average big man match with a slow pace and a lack of variety of moves shown. It was pretty basic and dull until Taker hit an amazing dive just before the end. Nothing special.

#8: NO HOLDS BARRED - SHAWN MICHAELS VS. VINCE MCMAHON
Isn't it great that No Holds Barred, Street Fight, Falls Count Anywhere and Hardcore matches are all practically the same? Anyway, the match was much better than I expected and went for a route similar, but not nearly as good, as the Shane/Vince match at WrestleMania X-7. HBK hits an amazing ladder spot, although it took far too long to build up. Good match, but wasted a lot of time that could have gone to Benoit/JBL and the triple threat match.

#9: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - TRIPLE THREAT - REY MYSTERIO VS. RANDY ORTON VS. KURT ANGLE (C)
Why this wasn't the main event is beyond me. Why this match only got 9 minutes still confuses me too. Great match for what it's worth as far as quality goes, as they managed to keep up a great pace. However, the ending was too early and disrespectful to all three competitors.

#10: PLAYBOY PILLOW FIGHT - CANDICE MICHELLE VS. TORRIE WILSON
This match should have been replaced by extra minutes for the previous bout. Note the boring chants, for example. Both women looked hot, but this was still a time waster. Pretty dull and not one pillow is used.

MAIN EVENT: WWE CHAMPIONSHIP - TRIPLE H VS. JOHN CENA
Both men have extended entrances, which were entertaining but also wastes of time. The fans were completely anti-Cena, which made them pointless too. The match was quite good as a combination of brawling and technical wrestling, and the finish was nicely performed. However, it was still pretty generic and stuck to the pattern of old-school wrestling too much for me.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Edge vs. Mick Foley
THOUGHTS: It was a good PPV, but as far as I am concerned, this won't stand the time as a classic WrestleMania. Many of the matches weren't anything spectacular, and more time should have gone to the SmackDown brand. DVD also includes 'Saturday Night's Main Event', which has a good handicap match between the two WrestleMania main events and a decent Street Fight between Shawn Michaels and Shane McMahon.

Wrestlemania 22......AMAZING!!!, 7 May 2006
Wrestlemania 22 is a strong contender for best 'mania ever! Shawn Micheals in DX mode and Rey Mysterio (yes, you read that right!) wins the world title!. There is also a harcore match that one of the most brutal, violent matches of 21st century!
Pre-show match- Dont know much about this match exept it involves nearly all of superstars not in the main card. Viscera wins it. All smackdown! guys wear blue and raw guys red.
Wrestlemania kicks off.........
World Tag-Team Title Match- Kane and Big Show vs Carlito and Chris Masters.
This match was a pretty decent way to start the event and it also resuted in the split of Carlito and Masters. 6/10
Money in the Bank Ladder Match II- Shelton Benjamin vs Ric Flair vs Matt Hardy vs Finlay vs Bobby Lashley vs Rob Van Dam.
WOW!!! What a match! Flair takes a very sick bump at the start of this match curtosy of Matt Hardy after suplex of the ladder. But he would come back get smacked by finlays shaleigh. Shelton did an amzing spring board off the roped to the ladder and RVD did a 5 star frog splash off the ladder (ECW! ECW!). Rvd went on to retrieve the briefcase and reckon he will cash in at ECW one night stand! 10/10
Hall of Famers (minus Bret hart) come to stage........
U.S. Title match- Chris Benoit vs JBL. Poor match considering its 'mania. Finish was poor aswell. But the winner was a suprise! 5/10
Hardcore Match- Edge vs Mick foley-
Maybe match of the night it was that good. includeded cookie sheets, baseball bats, barb-wire, razor-wire and tacks. At the end of the match the was an (ECW) stunt that was very dangerous. i have never ever ever seen a flaming table in the WWE! Edge is left bleeding, covered in tacks and burnt.
Booker T and Sharmell vs The Boogeyman. The Boogeyman's gimmick is quite good but he really needs some more in-ring training. This rivals pillow fight for worst match. 3/10
Womens Title match- Mickie James vs Trich Stratus
A great womens match were the fans started cheerin for mickie. Trish went for her finisher but mickey licked her hand! Micky won with a mick kick.
Casket match- Undertaker vs Mark Henry. Not Bad but i never really liked casket matches. Undertaker did his amazing dive over the ropes wich was unelievable. 8/10 (saved by takers dive)
No DQ street fight- Shawn Micheals vs mr mcmahon
UNBELIEVABLE- pips hardcore match to match of the night! Some great bumps and inter ferance by shane. Shawn gets a 20foot ladder, puts a trash over vinces head elbow drops off the ladder!!! (note; this was very dangerous as the crumpled trashcan could of seriosly hurt Vince. 11/10 amazing with Micheals in DX mode!
World Heavyweight title Triple Threat- Rey Mysterio vs Kurt Angle vs Randy Orton. I CAN NOT BELIEVE who won this match. I though orton would. Rey mucks up a 619 big time in this match. 8/10 (9/10 for winner)
WWE title match- John Cena vs HHH
Good way to end wreslemania but it should of been hell in a cell or IRON MAN. 8/10

Wow, a superb Mania. Shades of ecw maybe a d-generation X return how good can it get!
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMIONSHIP
Big Show & Kane vs Carlito & Chris Masters
A good opener with perfect length and a good ending 7.5/10
MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH
Shelton Benjamin, Finlay, Ric Flair (WOOO) Lashley, Rob Van Dam and Matt Hardy
Ladders 6 of the best self-explanatory really but also with a superb leap by Shelton, Ric Flair injury, 3 man powerbomb on lashley, Finlays Shalleligh, RVD'S Splash off the ladder, Side Effect of the ladder and ladders meeting skulls. Great Match 9.5/10

All the inductees excluding Bret Hart who was "Uncomfortable doing it" Great Applause for Vicky and Chavo Guerrero on behalf of Eddie R.I.P

Chris Beniot vs JBL
A poor slow paced match not good enough for 'Mania 6/10
HARDCORE MATCH
Edge vs Mick Foley
OH MY GOD. What a match, best ever hardcore match in wwe history barbed wire, Table's on fire, Baseball Bats, 'Barbie' ring steps and thumb-tacs all in one match MATCH OF THE NIGHT 10/10
HANDICAP MATCH
Booker T & Sharmell vs Boogeyman
Awful.After a match like the hardcore one big step down should be on smackdown or even heat 1/10
WWE WOMENS TITLE
Micke James vs Trish Stratus
Good match to get back to 'Mania after the handicap match some nice moves. Mickie touches Trish's private parts then licks her hand, but some good womens action 7/10
CASKET MATCH
Undertaker vs Mark Henry
It seems whenever you have the word casket you have the word Undertaker! However a very short match saved by some good Undertaker moves including an amazing dive over the ropes and casket.Obvious winner though 6/10 Sorry wwe
STREET FIGHT
Shawn Michaels vs Mr Mcmahon
What a Match. Massive personal rivalry leading up to it followed up by a outstanding match. Michaels sorted out interference from Shane (Vinces son) With an ending you HAVE TO SEE to beleive 10/10 Superb
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
Rey Mysterio vs Kurt Angle vs Randy Orton
Triple threat with some good moves including a double german suplex to both Orton and Rey at the same time. Overall a great title match with a perfect winner for it. You have got to see the west coast pop Rey does to Orton! 10/10
PLAYBOY PILLOW MATCH
Torrie Wilson vs Candice Michelle
A pointless match but hey two hot divas in lingerie and with pillows. This match also had a great suplex 6/10
WWE TITLE
John Cena vs Triple H
A mixed crowd atmosphere to end Wrestlemania with another good match. Very physical with HHH scoring with a huge right hand with nicely timed match turners worthy main event 10/10
