Product Description

Description

On his 2006 debut, I TRUST YOU TO KILL ME (the first album issued by Ironworks, the label co-founded by 24 actor KieferSutherland), Los Angeles-based singer/dobro player Rocco DeLuca leads his Burden ensemble through a well-crafted set ofalternative rock. Working in a similar vein to both David Gray and the late Jeff Buckley, DeLuca uses his emotive voiceto hover over punchy instrumental arrangements, as best revealed on the energetic, blues-tinged "Colorful" and the surging "Gift".

5.0 out of 5 stars Grace and favour, 9 May 2006
By K. de Lucia (York, England) - See all my reviews
Kiefer Sutherland's done his best to generate some publicity for Rocco Deluca and his band, The Burden, over recent months, so you may be forgiven for thinking that his album may be all spin and no substance. No offence, Mr Bauer. But oh, how wrong! This album is amazing!!! As a big Jeff Buckley fan his presence was immediately obvious and particularly evocative in his gravelly-yet-choirboy-like voice, which is very soulful and very, very good. But also there's a clear heritage of blues, acousti-rock like Zeppelin and also Radiohead. The band are tight and play with heart and provide almost therepeutic support for Rocco's pained lyrics. In fact the album is quite a cathartic experience - a bit like Grace or OK Computer was. Really worth buying. Serious, soulful music to listen to in the dark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go and see them live!, 13 Jul 2006
This has to be the best music i've heard for a long time. If you love the cd you should definitely go and see them perform live - it went way beyond anything I expected. Rocco and his Dobro are truly one! I know there are lots of comparisons out there but Rocce Deluca has a rare talent and the album will not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stroke of luck., 5 Jul 2006
By Gigs (Christchurch, Dorset United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Picture the scene....HMV Bournemouth..saturday morning...buying the new grandady cd. Listening to the album playing in the background in the shop... deciding it sounds different, fiesty, powerful and heartfelt. Asking the guy behind the counter what it is, and ending up buying Grandady AND Rocco Delucca.
This collection of songs gets into your head. There is the rockier side (How fast) and the ballads (Favour) and my personal favorite..Draw. The man plays slide guitar like it hurts. I was lucky enough to see him on tour in the uk, playing the Joiners Arms in Southampton. The audience numbered only 100 (Capacity)and he blew us away with a brilliant performance, backed by the superb Burden. This boy is gonna be huge.

Moral: next time you are browsing in the record store, keep your ears open.
