Final Fantasy XI is a great game, I love it...
But just for your information;

You can't install the US version of this expansion onto a European version of the game(FFXI).
I found that out the hard way ; ;

Final Fantasy XI will get you hooked. It will control your life to the point where you won't sleep, eat or communicate. Based in a huge world where you interact with millions of other players and adventure to your hearts delight. Final Fantasy XI has hundreds of items, weaponry, magic and allows you to customise your character's looks and jobs. The gameplay is endless.

That's where the fun stops. Cancel your account for more than three months, and you can say bye bye to it. That means, you can NEVER play again unless you re-purchase the game, and even if you do, you won't get your character back. I fell into this trap when I had no choice but to cancel my account because:
1) I had exams and piles of coursework
2) I'd just installed Windows Vista and Final Fantasy XI wouldn't play

Ontop of that, however much they claim it costs, I was getting billed fricken £10/month. Which is kinda odd since I didn't activate any extra characters or the tetra master card game.

As I write this, the expansion for Final Fantasy XI hasn't been released yet, but, as someone that plays Final Fantasy XI, I can give potential new gamers some information on this expansion.

Treasures of Aht Urhgan is the third expansion for the MMORPG Final Fantsy XI, and with this expansion there are (confirmed, these are not rumours, they have been confirmed by Square Enix and WILL be in the new expansion) a number of things that will be added with this expansion.

The first and probably the most important aspect of the expansion is that it is bringing three new jobs to the game, there are currently fifteen job classes that you can pick to play, and after this expansion is released, there will be eighteen. The three new jobs that are being added, are Bluemage, Corsair, and Puppetmaster.

For fans of the old Final Fantasy games, you'll know that Bluemage is a returning old favourite, Corsair is very much a pirate class, and to the best of my knowledge (I've played and beaten all of the final fantasy games available) Puppetmaster is a brand new job to Final Fantasy. There has been some speculation amongst the ingame population as to what this job will be capable of, and much of that is directed to the apparent similarity of an existing job in Final Fantasy at the moment, the Beastmaster job.

The second thing that Treasures of Aht Urghan will be adding is a new storyline, and this is very eagerly anticipated by many of us that play Final Fantasy XI. At this moment in time, Square Enix has released very little information on the content and storyline of Treasures of Aht Urghan, so I cant give you any more information than that.

The third thing this expansion is bringing, is access to entirely new areas of the game itself, something that many players, myself included, are looking forward to with great anticipation.

Among some of the additional, though no less important extras that this expansion will be adding, are a new form of PVP, a large abundance of quests and missions, new items, both those for the existing jobs, and for the new jobs, and a myriad of new monster types to vanquish.
