2.0 out of 5 stars good idea that gets repetitive, 16 April 2009
Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
this is a good game because the trading part of it is good because demand changes alot everyday based on what goods come into the town and you need to find a place where say there is alot of grain and then find a place where grain is in demand there are markers on the map that tell you what is most in demand in the town and every so often you will be visited by pirates.. now for the drawbacks. the markers on the map only show the most needed thing and not any other thing needed and sometimes i feel demand changes alittle too quickly as if one shipment of grain and no one wants grain anymore not that realistic and also it became very repetitive as i was just doing shipments and because you can't keep one route because it seems production is also raticle so you need to micromange everylittle thing and it takes so long for you to see a big improvment of your shipping company that i grew so bore i sent my ships looking for pirates only to relise agian and agian the naval battle engine stinks. overall there are alot better tycoon games out there such as industry giant locomotion etc. for the same price but with much better game play.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dullsville!, 19 Jul 2009

Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
I've always enjoyed strategy games of all sorts, and loved the old Frontier Elite style trading games of yonks ago. I had high hopes of Patrician 3 and quite enjoyed the intial stages of play. It may be that I am rather crap at this game, but as I progressed in wealth, I began to start my own businesses in various ports, only to find it was very difficult to turn a profit in many of them. In the end, I had a small fleet that I trundled around the Baltic, trying to dodge pirates and largely break even. I grew very bored of this game very quickly, and soon gave it up as an exercise in tedium. As I say, it may be that I'm just not very good at it: do feel free to try it out for yourself if you're into the game's overall concept.
