An amazing new Thomas remote controlled toy for young children. This toy shows Thomas in great detail and with a simple touch of the button you can make Thomas come to life and move along the floor. Press another button and….WHOOSH!!...real steam magically comes out of Thomas’ funnel!!

Designed for young children’s hands, the controller is bright and simple to use. One button makes Thomas move forward, another button makes Thomas reverse whilst spinning – point him in the direction you want him to move and then press the forward button again. The third button is the ‘steam’ button – press this and a huge puff of steam comes out of the funnel…it really is a sight to see!!

As Thomas moves along the floor he makes chugging sounds as steam puffs out, he also plays his fun theme tune too. Then hear the brakes and piston sounds as he comes to a stop. Press the button, make Thomas reverse, and then send him off in a new direction. The steam feature alone will keep children entertained for ages, as they try to work how their toy is producing steam, just like the characters on their favourite TV show. Thomas will give approximately 120 little puffs per tank of water when moving along, and 20 big puffs when static – so you will not need to keep constantly filling the tank with water.

I bought it for my 2 year old who is now 3. He soon got used to the controls, they are very easy to operate even for little fingers. Thomas moves forwards and turns around. He plays a tune as he moves which is not too annoying for us adults. My son loves the steam feature which is totally safe (it is just cold water vapor). You can also set Thomas to manual where he can be pushed along by the child and plays his tune as he goes (great if your child is finding the remote control tricky). I did not have time to test it myself before wrapping it up, but managed to witness it's use first-hand last week when i went to visit. When I asked my sister about the toy and whether it actually produced "steam" she replied that it did, and proceeded to show me. She filled up the container within the unit with water, and then handed the control to my nephew (Aged 3), he then proceeded to send Thomas across the living room carpet with what appeared to be actual steam coming from his chimney. I was actually really rather impressed by this as I had never seen this before from any child's toy - although I recall Scalextrix and Hornby may have used similar technology but I had long since grown out of them by the time it came along. The toy itself aside from the Steam effect is simple enough. It's not particularly fast, nor does it do anything else or come with any other accessories, so one could argue that it's a very basic Radio Controlled device with a Steam gimmick, but I think it's honest enough to pull it off and so I can happily recommend it to anyone with a young child who might show an interest. He loves it and got the hang of the simple controls and thinks its faciniating that cold water comes out of the funnel. It has been very durable and is still on the same batteries, has a push along mode when bored of the remote controls he switches it over himself depending on what he wants to do.
