3.0 out of 5 stars Novacek - Nova - Czech, 12 Nov 2006
I have followed this young artist for some time now and have heard him slowly develop and hone his skills as a pianist. He practises long and hard, and recently had his new piano delivered through his front window!

It is hard to compare Libor with other pianists at such an early stage, though I have come to a greater love of the piano through listening to him play all the tracks on this CD live at some time or another.

My favourites are Martinu's "Three Czech Dances" which Novacek delivers delightfully on this, his first album. He is also brave in championing Janacek, a modern composer from his own country, whose music is not easy to appreciate and requires considerable technical skill and expertise to carry it off, a composer who is somewhat overlooked in the concert pianist's repertoire.

I look forward to Libor's next album with great interest. Watch this space as I think this young man is going places!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable playing!, 15 May 2006
I have heard much about Libor Novacek since he won the Landor Records Competition, and was looking forward to this release for a long time. It doesn't disappoint! I think the Ravel performance is the best I have heard. The clarity and shape of Novacek's playing mean that all the subtlety's in the music are keenly felt. Great to hear the Martinu, which I didn't know before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be Inspired!, 18 April 2006
By M. Wolfe (Manchester, England) - See all my reviews
Listening to this CD reminded me why Libor Novacek was selected to win the prestigious Landor Competition. His playing is exquisite and inspired. I particularly enjoyed the Martinu which I hadn't heard before and now has become one of my favourite pieces. You can't stop smiling when you listen to it!
This CD is certainly my favourite new release of 2006.
